Character Info[]

Xiahou Dun is one of Cao Cao's cousins and vassals. He famously lost his left eye from a stray arrow during the events of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, eating it whole in a show of strength towards his foes. He is a lawful bureaucrat who bears great focus on logistics and domestics. Furthermore, he is a talented war general, and is capable of fighting with a multitude of weapons. Though he is most often seen with his twin scimitars, he has also used a club, a scythe, a bow, and more in his time.

General Information[]

Entrance[]

Xiahou Dun comes riding in on his horse, leaping off from it as he readies for battle.

Kirby Hat[]

Kirby grows an impressive replica of Xiahou Dun's hair, beard and all. Of course, this look wouldn't be complete with Kirby also rocking his eyepatch.

Taunts[]

Up Taunt: Xiahou Dun readjusts his eyepatch while saying with a lilt, "Don't be embarrassed because I have one eye."

Down Taunt: Xiahou Dun slips both of his scimitars back into their scabbards, scoffing at his foes.

Side Taunt: Xiahou Dun performs a series of impressive scimitar swings as he shouts, "I cannot allow you to win!"

Victory Poses[]

  1. Xiahou Dun has his back turned towards the camera, his front only slightly in view as he is seen polishing his eyepatch. He places it back over his head and turns slightly to stare plaintively towards the camera.
  2. Xiahou Dun swings both of his scimitars in unison, on either side of him, before resting in a stiff battle stance. He says, "My lord's road to conquest is not so fragile that a fool like you can damage it!"
  3. Xiahou Dun whirs in on his horse, galloping to the side of the camera as he swings his club downwards.

Moveset[]

Standard Special[]

Musou Arrow: Xiahou Dun wields his sizable war bow, knocking an arrow out from him that travels with similar, heavier trajectory to Link's. Charge it midway and it'll become a charged shot, surrounded by a blue energy that allows it to travel straight across nearly all of Final Destination. The trade-off here is that it is fairly easy to telegraph, although it can dish out considerable shield damage and wind-based damage if it makes its mark. A full charge will see the arrow become surrounded by gold Musou energy that can knock multiple enemies down in a Focus Attack-like stun at once. Furthermore, the special attack button can be pressed immediately after launching the first of any of these arrows to shoot out one or two more in consecutive fashion.

Side Special[]

Arrow Breaker:Xiahou Dun performs an upwards or downwards slant thrust kick, depending on the controller input. If he connects with an opponent, he will kick them before grappling them, tossing them into the ground with his foot. He can capably batter away several projectiles with this fairly standard martial kick, too; it's called "Arrow Breaker" for a reason! With this quick roundhouse kick, he can deflect most arrows, and even some energy-based projectiles like Fox McCloud's Blaster. Depending upon the specific projectile, he'll either disarm it and dispel it, or send it whirling back from whence it came. The same can be said for most items thrown in his direction as Arrow Breaker is activated. As a grapple, the move's melee format will override shields when used.

Up Special[]

Speed Musou: Xiahou Dun swaps his scimitars out for his scythe, flying with an upwards slice in the blink of an eye. Like Pikachu's Quick Attack, the move can be stacked up to three times and can be tilted in any direction. Although, instead of electricity-based damage, Xiahou will instead whip out with wind-based damage. Gusts will follow him as he dances forward, slashing at top speed through opponents with relative ease. The swipes themselves deal little knockback and decent damage, though the recovery itself can be compared to a stabler version of the aforementioned Quick Attack.

Down Special[]

Renbu Club: Xiahou Dun breaks out his weighty club, swinging it in 180 degree turns around his torso, and then above his head, before slamming it into the ground. The wind-up catches foes in its path, spinning them upwards for a heavy comedown. This move comes equipped with several frames of superarmor that culminate into a downwards swing with massive potential for knockback. If the attack hits an opponent head-on, it will be apt to bury them into the platform on which they stand. Shrapnel will fly from the ground, also kicking up a cloud of dust. This mix of dust and rocks deals a multitude of miniscule damaging hits to anyone who is caught in its range.

Final Smash[]

Phoenix Flying Death Destruction: Xiahou Dun lifts both of his scimitars into the air in an "X" pattern, proclaiming, "Now for some sport!" He then tosses each scimitar to his left or right, with them flying about four Kirby's forward in both directions. If they catch an opponent, they'll return with the foes attached to them. When Xiahou Dun reclaims his scimitars, he swings them both up into the air, leaping with them to slice and dice his unfortunate foes right up. He dishes out an exceedingly fast, combo-heavy scimitar flurry that ends with two roll flashes and fancy, Warriors-esque graphic on the top-right of the side that says "9999 Hits!" As the move comes to an end, Xiahou Dun returns to his battle stance as his foes are sent flying, saying, "This fixes a path for Cao Cao's vision!"

Extra Skill[]

Xiahou's Steed: Xiahou Dun whistles and his trusty horse returns to the fray, standing at his side. Pressing the Extra Skill inputs again will see him mount the horse. While he will have less moves available at his disposal while riding the horse, he is able to use variations of Musou Arrow and multiple standard attacks. At a full-speed run, the horse will move at roughly twice Xiahou's top speed on foot. Opponents can knock Xiahou Dun from off of the horse's back, but the horse will also act as an additional damage sponge to work through to reach Xiahou in a number of instances. If Xiahou simply leaves the horse on-stage without mounting it, it will eventually leave of its own accord, but not before following him for upwards of 10 seconds. During this time, the horse will headbutt and kick opponents in its path, and even pick up items and bring them back to Xiahou Dun. After his steed returns from whence they came, Xiahou must wait another 10 seconds before summoning it again.

Xiahou Dun can duck walk.
