Character Info[]

G'day, mate! It's Ty the Tasmanian Tiger! Ty is a member of the Bush Rescue, a benevolent force who fights to protect the Australian Outback from ne'er-do-wells. Ty's full name is Tyrone and he is based off of a real-life, disputedly-extinct marsupial called a thylacine. In his titular series, Ty is adept at wielding a variety of boomerangs.

General Information[]

Entrance[]

Ty kicks an outhouse door open, saying "G'day, mate!" as he walks out with his boomerangs at the ready. If he is on the Smash Skiff stage, he will proclaim, "Wow! Smash Skiff fly through sky!"

Kirby Hat[]

Kirby wears Ty's shorts and also garners a cowlick similar to his as he wields a miniature version of his boomerang.

Taunts[]

Up Taunt: Ty performs an intricate spin of his boomerangs, juggling them as he confidently proclaims, "You beauty!"

Down Taunt: Ty reveals a Thunder Egg that he has been holding in his pocket, looking at it with stars in his eyes. He exclaims, "I want to jump in bush with you."

Side Taunt: Ty grinds his foot into the ground with his arms crossed. Looking reflectively into the distance, he mutters, "I remember when I was a Tasmanian tiger in 2002..."

Victory Poses[]

  1. Ty is seen from afar as he tosses his dual boomerangs forward. The camera dynamically shifts as the boomerangs fly right up against it, then back to Ty, following them over to him. He catches them and smirks, saying, "Job well done, mate!"
  2. Ty leaps down from above and lands on one foot, spinning around before he loses his footing and giving a thumbs up towards the screen. He exclaims, "Good job, mate. I knew we could do it!"
  3. Ty tosses his Lasherang upwards, letting it help him swing forward ala Spider-Man. The camera freeze-frames as his face zooms-in towards the screen with a big smirk and a confident chuckle.

Moveset[]

Standard Special[]

Rang-a-Roo: Ty tosses his boomerang forward. Unlike Link, this move doesn't have much of a start-up time; Ty will toss his boomerang almost immediately, with only slight starting lag. The boomerang doesn't pack as much of a punch, but is effective at knocking out projectiles. Ty can hold the boomerang in place by holding the special attack button at a chosen point during its travels. It will only return to Ty once he lets the special attack button go, or when a powerful enough attack sends it back from whence it came. Otherwise, it will spin in place, dishing out light damage and deflection techniques along the way. If Ty uses his Extra Skill, Rang Swap, he can swap out his standard boomerangs for the Blazerang, Blizzardrang, or Plasmarang. Along with changing up how his standards work, these elemental boomerangs maintain different status traits that will move and damage their foes differently. The Blazerangs are modest-movers that dish out persistent fire damage and can catch opponents aflame for several moments at a time, the Blizzardrangs move similarly to the Blazerangs but can potentially freeze their foes, and the Plasmarangs are faster-moving, flinch-inducing boomerangs that dish out persistent electrical damage. Ty can toss up to two boomerangs at once and can even keep both moving in place with the right time, though understanding that the compromise would be an inhibition of his overall moveset until they return to him.

Side Special[]

Lasharang: Ty whips out with one of the Bush Rescue's specialty rangs: the Lasharang. Using this light, quick-moving boomerang, Ty can use it to loop around ledges and pull himself towards them ala most traditional tether recoveries. When he isn't using it as a sideways tether, Ty can use it to connect with his foes. A perfect connection between the Lasharang and a foe will have Ty leap into them, kicking from off of them with a snarky chuckle as he leaps back a few feet. Let the Lasharang linger once it's summoned and it can be used similarly to Sheik's Chain, haphazardly swinging it about and delivering minor cutting damage to opponents hit by its line. As it's brought back to Ty, there's a chance that it might connect with a foe and activate the aforementioned grappling kick.

Up Special[]

Warparang: Ty tosses another high-tech rang, and this time it's one that can bring him someplace new in a snap! At standard, Ty will simply throw the Warparang upwards and it will suddenly glow as it spins, summoning Ty in its place. However, Ty can angle its ascent at a 180 degree angle, and also manipulate where it will exactly land within those parameters. This allows him relative freedom to warp where he would like. Though, it is an easily telegraphable move. If the Warparang is smacked by an opponent before Ty can warp to it, he might be sent somewhere else instead, like over a blast zone or empty void! Like the standard boomerang, the Warparang will deal minor damage to foes as it spins.

Down Special[]

Smasharang: Ty retrieves a heavyweight boomerang that's roughly the size of King Dedede, slamming it down and letting it spin in-place as he does so, acting like a whirring jackhammer of sorts. Anyone caught in the Smasharang's path as it comes crashing down will be dealt serious damage and may potentially be grounded. They also run the risk of being grounded if they run into it at any point that it remains in play. Furthermore, shrapnel uprooted by the Smasharang will travel in every direction while it is in use, racking up damage upon those not careful enough while they're around it. Every so often, the Smasharang might even dig up an item, or two, or three.

Final Smash[]

Bunyip Mortar:Ty boards the Battle Bunyip, a specially designed combat mech with high impact armor that has been made just for the Bush Rescue. Attached to the Battle Bunyip is a mighty mortar cannon, which he lifts up into the air as he says, "Forgive me, mate. I'm Australian." A split moment later, the mortar goes off, releasing several homing missiles into the air. They remain ascending skyward for a moment before dropping back down towards the earth, being sent off in multitudes towards every opponent presently on-screen. They deal about a third as much damage and knockback as a Bob-omb but can stack up relatively quickly. While the mortar's ammo is being expended, Ty remains inside of the impenetrable mech, safe from harm until the volley is done with. Once it's over, Ty leaps out from the Battle Bunyip and it flies back from whence it came as he comes prepared for the continued fight.

Extra Skill[]

Rang Swap: Like Shulk's Monado Arts, a cursor allows Ty to choose between four static images representing each rang at his disposal: the Boomerangs, Blazerangs, Blizzardrangs, and Plasmarangs. Depending on the selection, he will swap them out accordingly.

Unique Traits[]

Ty can crawl, wall jump, and wall cling.
