Stage Info[]
While Temples are a series staple in the Zelda franchise, this stage in particular is loosely based on the palaces that are found in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. The top left portion resembles the palace entrances while the building atop the mountain resembles the sprite used to represent palaces on the overworld. Additionally, the palaces in Adventure of Link are subterranean and labyrinthian which is reflected in this stage’s design. In Brawl onwards, the Hylian text on the platforms is plucked straight from The Wind Waker and when translated it reads, “Smash Brothers”.
Stage Layout[]
This stage is the first Very Large stage seen in the Smash series and as such it has quite the platform setup. Starting from the left there is one main platform with a short platform above it serving as a roof. A pillar is to the immediate right with two platforms past that which lead into the lower half of the stage. Continuing right there is a staircase that eventually levels out into a longer platformer with another smaller platform slightly taller right next to it. Above this section is another longer platform serving as a roof.
Further right there is a tunnel opening which serves as a second way to reach the bottom half of the stage. Past that is another column with a short platform on it before reaching the rightmost section of the stage. Here the ground is mostly flat with one platform jutting up to the right after the previous column. Above it is a slanted platform in the air and then just before the edge of the stage there are two more short platforms stacked on top of each other.
From the tunnel leading down there is an area of the stage commonly referred to as a “cave of life” where fighters can be bounced around on the walls to survive hits that would ordinarily KO them. The larger land chunk here has a flat platform on the left with a sloping platform on the right. Past the sloped platform there is a small gap where fighters can fall to their death and just past it is a small platform which can serve as a last bastion of hope for anyone fighting down there.
