Stage Info[]

The TV World, or Midnight Channel, is a world of Shadows and the human consciousness found inside of TVs. Not just anyone can enter the TVs however, they either need the power of Persona or be with someone who has that power. A series of incidents in the small town of Inaba resulted in people being pushed into the TVs and the legend of the Midnight Channel was brought to life. The inner insecurities and darker thoughts of these people were brought to life in the TV World as castles, bathhouses, secret labs, and more were brought to life and filled with Shadows. If the victim thrown in the TV World can’t confront their own Shadow or be rescued in time, well… let’s just say it won’t end well for them.

Stage Design[]

Stage Layout[]

TV World is a transforming stage which takes the players to some of the different dungeons which are explored during the events of Persona 4. The stage always starts out on a flat grounded plane with no additional platforms and after about 15-20 seconds the stage will begin to change. This change is signified by the three TVs in the background turning on and displaying static. After a few seconds the TVs will change from static to showing a particular dungeon which tells the players which transformation is coming up. The Stage will then begin to warp as it brings the players to the dungeon. Each transformation will last for anywhere between 30-60 seconds before the stage takes players back to the default layout. Another 15-20 seconds later and the stage will take you to another dungeon. The dungeons chosen are randomized and can be in any order. Details for each dungeon are as follows:

  • Yukiko’s Castle - The layout for Yukiko’s Castle remains grounded with four soft platforms above it reminiscent of the layout for the Norfair stage.
  • Steamy Bathhouse - The layout for the Steamy Bathhouse remains grounded with a large pool of water in the middle. This water can be ran through and fought in however most fighters will have a slightly reduced movement speed when going through the water. Characters who would be more at home in the water such as Squirtle, Diver, Greninja, Mipha, and Starfy are unaffected by this. If fire-based attacks are used in the water they will also deal a decreased amount of damage.
  • Marukyu Striptease - The layout for Marukyu Striptease remains grounded with a raised platform in the middle for dancers. There is also a soft platform floating in the middle of the stage which travels across the left and right sides of the screen.
  • Void Quest - The layout for Void Quest switches things up to a midair layout with a solid T-shape platform for the fighting arena. This creates a wall in the middle of the platform that fighters have to jump over to get to the other side. The bottom half of the T also makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for fighters to try and go below the stage to get to the other side. The two blue swirls represent possible teleportation spots on the stage. These will not always be active, but if a swirling distortion appears in the air at the edge of the platform then any fighter that makes contact with it will find themselves teleported to the other side of the platform. These distortions do not remain active for long however, merely a rough five seconds.
  • Secret Laboratory - The layout for the Secret Laboratory remains grounded with no additional platforms. However the walls and ceilings become enclosed by steel walls representing the underground nature of the Secret Laboratory dungeon. Much like with the Mishima Dojo stage however, these walls and ceiling are breakable if they take enough damage or if a fighter is thrown against them with enough force. Doing so is the only way to cause a traditional KO during this transformation.
  • Heaven - The layout for Heaven switches things up to a midair layout while also turning the stage (temporarily) into a vertically scrolling stage. The platform arrangement however is simple with alternating layers between having 2 platforms and 1 platform.
