Character Info[]
Starfy is a young starfish and prince of the Pufftop Kingdom. Starfy’s first adventure began after he accidentally dropped a jar that had kept the evil Ogura trapped within. When the jar opened, Starfy was sucked down into the ocean where he would meet new friends like Moe and Old Man Lobber who would help Starfy seal Ogura away and return to his home. Later adventures would see Starfy’s sister Starly, along with Moe, as they journeyed through the ocean to defeat the evil Evil, save the Amiy Kingdom, and help out a strange rabbit-like creature called Bunston recover their memory and find their way home.
General Information[]
Entrance[]
Starfy will spin out onto the stage as several droplets of water splash off of him and onto the ground around him.
Kirby Hat[]
Kirby will wear a hat that is shaped like the upper half of Starfy’s body, including Starfy’s face!
Taunts[]
Up Taunt: Starfy will perform a short flip in the air and land on his feet with one hand on his hip and the other held straight up into the air.
Down Taunt: Starfy will transform into his Roostar transformation and let out a big ‘ol “Bugawk!” as he tries to spook his opponents.
Side Taunt: A public telephone will appear next to Starfy which he’ll pick up and begin to speak into. Moe will be on the other line to give Starfy some advice on the battle. Unfortunately for the player, Moe’s audio is made up of unintelligible sounds which can’t be translated.
Victory Poses[]
- Starfy will let out a yawn before he pulls out a blue bed and sets it on the ground before plopping onto it and falling asleep.
- Starfy and Starly will dance around each other in a circle before jumping towards each other and going for a high-flyin’ high five.
- Starfy will shuffle back and forth for a bit before clapping to the left and right. Starfy will then turn around and spin in place for a couple seconds before performing a flip in the air and flying up close and personal with the camera. This is reminiscent of the dance that Starfy performs after completing a boss battle.
Moveset[]
Standard Special[]
Mighty Star Spin: Tapping the special input will cause Starfy to spin around himself rather quickly and do multiple hits of small damage to anything in his immediate range. By rapidly tapping the input Starfy and spin for an extended period of time however if you have Starfy spin for too long then he will eventually slow down and come to stop. Starfy will have to take a few moments before he can do anything after this as he's just spun himself dizzy and needs to get himself settled. If you tilt the control stick up while rapidly tapping the special input, you can make Starfy rise slightly into the air to hit things that are just above him, or potentially evade an attack.
Side Special[]
Powerful Spin: Moe will appear next to Starfy as Starfy grabs onto Moe from behind. Starfy will spin around as he holds onto Moe whacking fighters in front or behind him each time Moe gets spun around. Holding down the input will allow Starfy to hold onto Moe longer before eventually letting go which will send Moe flying forwards. Holding down this move won’t affect the damage that Moe deals or how far he gets flung, only how long Starfy holds onto him. That said, Moe gets flung a surprisingly far distance before he eventually starts to arc down and fall down to the stage. If Moe smacks into an opponent he’ll end up dealing a decent amount of damage to them before disappearing.
Up Special[]
Propeller Bit: Starfy will summon the Propeller Bit as a large rabbit-looking creature appears behind Starfy and grabs onto him. The Propeller Bit will spin its long ears and take flight in a similar way to Tails from the Sonic games. The Propeller Bit will carry Starfy a decent distance up into the air and can have its flight path adjusted if the player tilts the control stick. Doing so however will reduce the total amount of distance that Propeller Bit can carry Starfy through the air. If the Propeller Bit bumps into an opponent mid-flight it will cause them to take a small amount of damage and get knocked away a short distance. Beyond that, Starfy can attack once while being carried by Propeller Bit, however doing so will cause Starfy to enter a state of freefall immediately afterwards.
Down Special[]
Shooting Star: When used on the ground Starfy will hop up a short distance forwards before turning himself upside-down and lengthening his head before plummeting straight down. When used in the air, Starfy will immediately turn himself upside down and start plummeting straight down. Starfy will quickly fall down to the ground, either towards the stage or towards his doom, and if he can hit an opponent with his head he’ll pull them with him to the ground as they take an initial small hit of damage and then a second larger hit when Starfy impacts against the ground and sends the opposing fighter flying away.
Final Smash[]
Great Cyclone Spin: Starfy’s sister Starly will appear next to him before the two hold hands and begin to spin together. A small cyclone will begin to appear between the two before they lose their grip on each other. Starfy and Starly will then continue to swim in the cyclone and increase its power as the cyclone gets larger and larger until it takes up a significant amount of space on the stage. This cyclone will stay rooted in its initial spot and will not move around the stage, but on smaller stages it won’t have to as it will cover nearly the entire stage, if not the whole thing. If an opposing fighter touches the cyclone they will get sucked into where they will take repeated hits of water damage until the Final Smash is over. Eventually, Starfy and Starly will be reunited in the center of the cyclone as the two of them hold hands and spread their arms out wide. This action will cause the cyclone to burst and spray water all over the stage as it releases its trapped fighters and sends them flying away with one last hit of damage.
Extra Skill[]
Magical Coin: A golden magical coin will appear over Starfy’s head as it begins to spin in place. This coin is purely an animation and has no hitbox so nothing will happen if it hits anything. This coin will continue to spin above Starfy’s head for 10 seconds and has a 50/50 of landing on either a star or a lil poop. If the coin lands on the star then Starfy’s physical attributes will be greatly increased for the next 10 seconds. This will include Starfy’s speed, offensive, and defensive stats. However if the coin lands on the poop then all of Starfy’s opponent’s will receive those buffs instead. Starfy is only able to use this Extra Skill once per stock and all effects, no matter who they have been applied to, will be canceled out early if Starfy gets KO’d.
Unique Traits[]
Starfy is capable of making two extra jumps in the air.
