Character Info[]

A young dragon native to the Artisans homeworld, Spyro got his first nature of adventure when Gnasty Gnorc turned all of the adult dragons in the Dragon Realms into crystal after he was insulted in a television interview. With the help of his buddy Sparx, the fairies, and some friendly Balloonists Spyro went on a journey through the Dragon Realms to save his fellow dragons and teach Gnasty Gnorc a lesson. This was far from Spyro’s only adventure however. In time Spyro would travel to both Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds as he fought to save one world from Ripto’s tyranny, and to rescue the dragon eggs which were kidnapped by a deranged Sorceress.

General Information[]

Entrance[]

A portal will sit on stage as Spyro flies out through it. After he lands on the stage the portal will disappear in a flash.

Kirby Hat[]

Kirby will wear a cap of Spyro’s head complete with snout, horns, and eyes.

Taunts[]

Up Taunt: Spyro will jump up a bit and land in a crouching position ready to attack as he says, “I smell a barbecue!”

Down Taunt: Spyro will spin around himself a few times chasing his tail as if he were a dog.

Side Taunt: Spyro will curl up around himself and take a short nap as he snores.

Victory Poses[]

  1. Sparx will fly around Spyro’s head as Spyro keeps an eye on him before the two give each other a high five for winning the match.
  2. Spyro will run out onto the screen and toast a sheep with his fire breath. This releases a butterfly from the sheep which Sparx flies up to and eats.
  3. Spyro will hover down onto the screen from above and let out a large flame off to the side before smirking at the camera.

Moveset[]

Standard Special[]

Fire Breath: Spyro will let out a breath of fire that spreads out quickly hitting opponents in front of him. The range isn’t extraordinary and really just hits characters that are right in front of Spyro. While the attack comes out fast the damage is fairly middling with only a small amount of knockback. Despite its short range this move is also capable of being reflected like any other projectile attack.

Side Special[]

Charge Attack: By holding down the Side Special button Spyro will lower his head aiming his horns forwards as he charges forwards and moves faster than when dashing. If an opponent is hit when Spyro is charging around they’ll be knocked up into the air as Spyro halts his charge. You’ll have to press Side Special again to begin charging again. While charging Spyro can quickly change direction just by flipping the control stick and is also capable of jumping. Spyro will continue to charge until he either runs into a character, some kind of obstacle, or the player lets go of the Side Special button. It’s a rather handy move in Race to the Finish!

Up Special[]

Loop-de-Loop: For his Up Special Spyro will leap up into the air and fly in a perfect circle as he goes through a loop-de-loop maneuver. During this Spyro’s whole body can damage opponents as he becomes his own weapon. That said, making contact with the horns on his head will deal increased damage. Spyro will end the loop-de-loop where he began however if he was in the air when beginning this up special he can go into a glide if the Up Special was held down at the end of the attack.

Down Special[]

Horn Dive: Spyro will leap up into the air and turn himself around with his horns pointed straight down before plummeting downward and meteor smashing any opponents that are in his path. If Spyro was in the air already when this move is activated he’ll just plummet straight down instead of rising higher up into the air first.

Final Smash[]

Superflame: Upon activation, Spyro’s horns, tail, and chest will glow bright as flame-like patterns appear over his scales. Spyro will then lean his head back and begins to launch a massive fireball from his mouth. This Superflame fireball is so large that it can almost engulf the Battlefield stage from top to bottom. The fireball flies forwards in a straight line from Spyro and will deal a heavy amount of damage to anything in its path. Unlike some Final Smashes of this nature, Superflame will not trap opponents inside of it or hit them multiple times unless they make contact with the Superflame more than once. The fireball travels fairly quickly and is a good fast Final Smash option. Once the Superflame has gone beyond the blast zone Spyro’s colors will return to normal and he can resume fighting.

Extra Skill[]

Ice Breath: Spyro’s Extra Skill is nearly identical to his Standard Special, but instead of breathing out flames he will instead breathe ice. Spyro’s Ice Breath looks nearly identical to his Fire Breath except now the “flames” are a bluish white. This move shares it’s range, knockback, and reflectability with Fire Breath as well. The differences lie in the fact that Ice Breath deals much less damage than Fire Breath and it has a rare chance to freeze opponents who are hit by it for a time. The chances of freezing an opponent and how long they stay frozen depend on how much damage that opponent has taken. The more damage they’ve taken the higher the odds they’ll be frozen and the longer it will last.

Unique Traits[]

Though he's only around for aesthetic purposes and has no affect on Spyro's gameplay, Sparx will be seen flying around Spyro throughout the entire fight.
