Stage Info[]

So you thought it was a good idea to leave your old life behind, get on a train, and set off for some random village inhabited by sentient, humanoid animals did you? Well welcome to Smashville stranger! I hope you enjoy the sights with our train station, police station, museum, post office, and tailor shop. And if you’re ever in need of any upgrades to your home or just want to pick up some tools or other supplies, just head on over to Nook’s Cranny and Tom Nook will set you up with no questions asked. What’s that? You’ve heard rumors of Tom Nook being an evil tanuki who traps helpless Villagers like yourself in an unending stream of debt? *nervous sweat* Heh… how very silly of you. Yes, how very silly indeed. Now answer something for me, you have money, right?

Stage Layout[]

Smashville has a simple stage layout with one long main platform and then one soft platform which hovers above it and travels from the left and right sides of the stage.

Beyond that, all the fun to this stage is in its cameos and background elements. The stage operates on a day/night cycle which is synched to your system’s clock. Between 4am and 7am the stage will be set to Dawn with a pale blue sky. Between 7am and 4pm the stage will be set to Day with a deep blue sky. Between 4pm and 7pm the stage will be set to Evening with an orange sky and the house lights in the background turning on. Between 7pm and 4am the stage will be set to Night with a dark sky with visible constellations. Additionally, if you play on this stage on Saturdays between 8pm-12am then K.K. Slider will hold a concert on the stage playing one of his songs.

While Smashville is more based on the common theme of arriving in random villages in Animal Crossing, this stage is primarily inspired by Animal Crossing: Wild World. There are many possible cameo appearances that can appear in the background of this stage, some with their own requirements to do so. These characters can be seen reacting to the fight in ways such as getting scared when a big attack happens near them, cheering for their favorite fighters, and becoming worried for their favorites when they aren’t doing well. These cameos include:

  • Blanca
  • Blathers
  • Booker
  • Brewster (behind a counter, serving coffee)
  • Celeste
  • Copper
  • Corimer
  • Crazy Redd
  • Dr. Shrunk
  • Gracie (with her car)
  • Gulliver (flying in his UFO)
  • Harriet
  • Male Villager (Using the original design from Animal Crossing)
  • Female Villager (Using the original design from Animal Crossing)
  • Joan
  • Kapp’n (driving his taxi to the Town Hall)
  • Kaitlin
  • Katie
  • Katrina
  • K.K. Slider (only on Saturdays from 8pm-12am)
  • Lyle
  • Mabel
  • Pascal
  • Pelly
  • Pete (flying in the background)
  • Phyllis
  • Rover
  • Sable
  • Saharah
  • Timmy & Tommy
  • Tom Nook
  • Tortimer
  • Wendell

Additionally,

  • There must always be at least one human Villager, male or female, in the background.
  • Copper and Booker will always appear next to each other.
  • Katie & Kaitlin will always appear next to each other.
  • Sable and Mabel (as well as Blathers and Celeste) are likely, but not guaranteed, to be next to each other and can sometimes appear completely solo.
  • Gracie and Brewster share a spot on the right side of the stage so they can never both appear on the stage at the same time.
  • If Tom Nook is in the background then Timmy & Tommy won’t be, and the reverse is true as well. Timmy & Tommy will always appear together.
  • Tom Nook can appear wearing any of his four outfits.
  • If Blathers or Celeste are in the background during dawn or daytime they will be seen sleeping.
  • If one of the Animal Crossing playable fighters are present in a match then they will not be seen in the background. The exception to this are the Villagers.

Hazards[]

Balloons[]

A simple “hazard”, as the fight goes on red balloons can float in on the stage from the sides with have Food items attached to them. The balloons can be popped by any damaging attack. Once popped, the Food item will fall down and become usable by any fighter.

Soundtrack[]

  • Animal Crossing
  • Animal Crossing: Wild World
    • 2:00 a.m. - An arrangement which has been heavily sped up with a rhythm and blues-inspired style with K.K. Slider’s vocals added to it. [SSBB]
    • The Roost - Re-arranged by the original composer, Kazumi Totaka, in the style of a soulful ballad which incorporates light drums and bass, as well as lush string and horn sections. [SSBB]
    • Title Theme - A medley of tracks including the Title Theme, Museum Theme, 3 p.m. theme, Loan Paid Off jingle, 6 a.m. theme, Nook’s Cranny theme, and the Town Hall theme. This medley retains a very similar style to the original tracks, but with a more upbeat and techno-inspired touch. [SSBB]
    • Title Theme - An orchestral style medley featuring the Title Theme, 3 p.m. theme, and 2 a.m. theme with some influence from two-tone ska. [SSBU]
    • Town Hall and Tom Nook's Store - An arrangement of the two tracks which closely resembles the songs from the original Animal Crossing while adding orchestral additions as they progress. [SSBB]
