Character Info[]

Slippy Toad is one of the founding members of the new Team Star Fox and serves not only as a pilot, but as inventor and mechanic for the team as well. Slippy has invented a variety of gadgets and machines for the team to use over the years including the iconic Arwings and Landmaster. By the time of the Anglar Invasion, Slippy was piloting his own personal machine, the Bullfrog, and has even gotten himself a girlfriend named Amanda. Unfortunately, the timeline saw a disturbance during the Anglar invasion so it’s unclear what happened to Slippy after that. In one timeline he retired from the team and started a (large) family with Amanda, while in another timeline Amanda joined Team Star Fox to travel the galaxy alongside Slippy.

General Information[]

Entrance[]

The Gyrowing will fly over the stage and eject Slippy out who falls onto the stage, ass first. Slippy stands up and rubs his ass for a moment before getting ready to fight.

Kirby Hat[]

Kirby will wear Slippy’s scouter over his eye as well as wear Slippy’s tiny hat on top of his head.

Taunts[]

Up Taunt: Slippy spins his blaster and shouts "Mess with the bullfrog, and you get…” when suddenly Slippy will lose his grip on his blaster and ruin his “badass” quote as he has to quickly catch his blaster before it can fall to the ground. Slippy makes a clumsy grab at his blaster before placing it back in its holster saying, “hehe…” under his breath in embarrassment.

Down Taunt: Slippy will get down on all fours in a way similar to how actual frogs sit before performing a backflip in place.

Side Taunt: Slippy will lean forward and wag his finger in a “nuh-uh” fashion.

Victory Poses[]

  1. Slippy will run out onto the screen and trip causing him to faceplant hard onto the ground. Without looking up, Slippy will hold up a thumbs up to show that he’s okay.
  2. Slippy performs his victory animation from Star Fox Assault, clicking his heels to the left and right before dropping it low. While doing this, he says, "Mmhmm!"
  3. Slippy spins his wrench in mid-air and successfully grabs it as the camera zooms in on him and he winks towards it with a tilt of his cap, exclaiming, "Aw, yeah!"

Moveset[]

Standard Special[]

Blaster: Slippy will pull out his Blaster and aim it forwards before he fires out a slow-moving projectile from it. Compared to Fox, Falco, and Wolf, the shot from Slippy’s blaster is the larger of the four and almost looks like it has a water effect to it. Additionally, this blaster shot moves just a tad bit faster than Wolf’s blaster does. Slippy is capable of charging up this attack to make it go faster and deal increased damage, however if Slippy charges up this move too much it will backfire in his face. If the Blaster is allowed to backfire then Slippy will take a small amount of damage as he is damaged by the recoil. Interestingly though, the backfire attack actually extends past Slippy a bit making it possible to hit an opponent who was standing immediately behind Slippy.

Side Special[]

Slippery Slide: Slippy will do his best to follow in the footsteps of his friends Fox and Falco as he moves to dash forward with extreme speed. However just as Slippy starts to take his first steps, he ends up tripping over his own two feet and falls onto the ground in front of him. This causes Slippy to slide forwards along the platform as he kicks up water out from under him to damage whatever is the first thing his body bumps into. Unlike other similar moves, Slippy is unable to turn around and head in the opposite direction. This is because during this attack Slippy will be in a state of panic as he flails his arms around desperate to stop sliding and stand back up.

Up Special[]

Booster Pack: Slippy will pull out his Booster Pack from Assault and use it to take flight! The Booster Pack runs on a fuel system which lets him drift up into the air in a similar manner to R.O.B.’s up special. In comparison however, Slippy has far less fuel than R.O.B. does which means he can’t travel nearly as far. Additionally, when activating this move there is a 10% chance that it will backfire with the Booster Pack exploding and sending Slippy careening high up into the air. This explosion causes Slippy to achieve greater heights than he normally can with the Booster Pack while also propelling him much faster into the air. This backfire version of Booster Pack can be angled slightly so that Slippy doesn’t just go straight up, but the angle that it can be adjusted is very slight.

Down Special[]

Slip Grenade: Slippy will pull out one of his grenades from Star Fox Assault and toss it forward a surprisingly long distance. This grenade can bounce off of walls and other surfaces, but will explode on contact with opponents or just after a set amount of time. These bombs are a bit chaotic with their bouncing however as they don’t obey normal geometric rules and will instead bounce with a degree of randomness to them which cause them to move in an unpredictable pattern. Slippy himself will need to keep an eye out for these grenades as while they won’t explode on contact with him, he can be damaged if he’s close to them when they explode. Slippy can only have one of these slippery grenades out on the stage at a time.

Final Smash[]

AegisCam Defense Network: Slippy will leap off screen as the screen changes to look like the view of the AegisCam in Star Fox Guard. A reticle will appear on the screen for the player to move around as four of the AegisCam turrets appear at the corners of the screen. With each press of the attack button, the four turrets will fire out a laser cannon shot at the point where the reticle was set. These lasers all will hit the first thing they encounter meaning that they can hit other fighters or be blocked. Being hit by just one laser isn’t too bad, but all four can be rough. After a set amount of time passes, or after Slippy has used up all of his ammunition, the four turrets will deactivate and Slippy will return to the stage.

Extra Skill[]

Hi-Ho Protocol: Slippy takes out RE:BOT and sets it on the ground. It begins hopping back and forth aimlessly unless it is close enough to an opponent, in which case it’ll hone in on them. As time progresses, RE:BOT will begin to crackle with electricity more and more until it explodes, damaging anyone within its radius. Continue to hold down the special move input, though, and Slippy can control RE:BOT manually with a remote controller shaped like a Wii U GamePad, moving RE:BOT left or right until it explodes. The explosion deals slightly more damage and knockback than a Bob-Omb, but with a more precise blasting radius. Slippy must wait up to 10 seconds before summoning RE:BOT again.

Unique Traits[]

Slippy can belly crawl along the stage.
