Character Info[]

The self-proclaimed “Ultimate Life Form”, there is no doubt that Shadow the Hedgehog is an extremely powerful hedgehog. He was created by Dr. Gerald Robotnik using the DNA of the alien Black Doom aboard the Space Colony ARK with his only companion being the doctor’s granddaughter, Maria. Tragedy struck however when G.U.N. declared him too dangerous to live and sent soldiers to kill him. Yet only Maria died that day sending both Dr. Robotnik and Shadow into a spiral of grief and rage. While for a time Shadow wished for revenge against G.U.N. and the human race, he has since turned things around and now seeks to fulfill Maria’s dying wish and protect the planet so that everyone would have their chance at happiness.

General Information[]

Entrance[]

Shadow will warp onto the stage using Chaos Control and float above the stage slightly for a brief moment before landing.

Kirby Hat[]

Kirby will wear a cap on his head designed to look like the top of Shadow’s head complete with quills and ears.

Taunts[]

Up Taunt: Shadow will take out one of the Chaos Emeralds and toss it a short distance in the air before catching it. As he does this, Shadow will say, “Chaos is power…”

Down Taunt: Shadow will pull out his gun from Shadow the Hedgehog and look at it briefly before putting it away.

Side Taunt: Shadow will turn around with his back to the camera and cross his arms. Shadow will tilt his head back with a simple “Hmph. Pathetic.”

Victory Poses[]

  1. Shadow teleports onto the scene using Chaos Control and appears enveloped in a red aura. Shadow glances down towards the camera, with a clear look of disdain, saying, “I am the Ultimate Lifeform!”
  2. The camera will focus on a Chaos Emerald falling from the sky before Shadow uses Chaos Control to teleport up to the emerald and snatch it out of midair. As he does this Shadow will say, “I am the Ultimate Lifeform”.
  3. Shadow will be seen standing atop his motorcycle, the Dark Rider, with his arms folded in front of him in a confident pose. Flaming tire tracks and be seen (and heard) stretching out from behind the Dark Rider.

Moveset[]

Standard Special[]

Chaos Snap: When Shadow uses Chaos Snap he’ll snap his fingers and vanish as he performs a short distance homing teleport towards whichever opponent is closest to him. If the opponent is in range of Shadow’s teleport then he will teleport right next to them before performing a spinning side kick at them, knocking them away. If no opponent was in range of Shadow’s teleport, then he will just teleport as close as far as his range allows him to get in their direction and kick at the air.

Side Special[]

Chaos Spear: Shadow will harness raw Chaos energy and form it into a small jaggedy looking projectile that he then “throws” forwards in a straight line. This attack can be used repeatedly with Shadow alternating which hand he is using with each attack. However if you repeatedly fire off the attack not only will the distance and damage begin to peter off, but it will take more time for Shadow to break out of the attack pattern which could leave him as a sitting duck. These projectiles are roughly the same size as the projectiles from the Ray Gun item and deal Electric damage.

Up Special[]

Chaos Control: Shadow will use the powers of the Chaos Emeralds to use Chaos Control and teleport a fair distance upwards. This teleport can be performed omnidirectionally allowing Shadow a great amount of recovery ability. On top of this, when Shadow teleports he will cause a short-ranged burst of chaos energy to appear in the spot where he is teleporting, dealing very light damage to any opponents who were in that spot.

Down Special[]

Chaos Magic: Shadow will snap his fingers to manifest a small swirling vortex of purple & white chaos energy in front of him. This distortion of space will hang in the air for a short moment and if a fighter is in its way when it manifests, or makes contact with it before it dissipates, they will be quickly knocked upwards with a blast of darkness damage. By holding down the input Shadow has the ability to change the spawning location of the spatial distortion. The distortion can’t be angled or aimed necessarily, and instead it operates as the longer you hold down the input, the further it will travel.

Final Smash[]

Super Shadow: Shadow will rise shortly into the air (if he was on the ground) before unleashing a large Smart Bomb-sized burst of Chaos energy around him. Any fighter that gets hit by this chaos attack will be dragged into a cinematic Final Smash. This cinematic will begin with a closeup look on Shadow’s face as the Chaos Emeralds surround him and transform him into Super Shadow. Super Shadow will fly off towards his opponents and unleash a series of attacks and punches before using Chaos Control to warp away. The revving of an engine will be heard as the camera switches views to show Super Shadow atop his motorcycle, the Dark Rider. Super Shadow will charge forward on the Dark Rider heading right for his opponents as he aims his gun at them and fires it repeatedly. As the Dark Rider closes in, Super Shadow will toss away his gun and leap high into the air off of the Dark Rider. Once in the air Super Shadow will be seen charging up a massive orb of chaos energy which he will toss at the fighters to create a massive Chaos Blast explosion, just in time for the Dark Rider to also run into them. This final chaotic explosion will be the mercy the fighters are looking for as they are finally freed from Super Shadow’s assault and sent flying away with heavy damage.

Extra Skill[]

Doom Shadow: Shadow possesses a meter mechanic for his Extra Skill which works similarly to that of Cloud Strife. As Shadow fights this meter will gradually build up over time, but will fill in faster as he takes damage. Pressing and holding the Extra Skill input can also cause Shadow to focus his thoughts on and intentionally gather the energy he needs to utilize his Doom Powers. When the meter is full a black and red aura will surround Shadow as he enters his Doom Shadow mode. While in this mode, the very next time Shadow uses one of his four Special Moves, that move will be upgraded into a more powerful attack, a Doom Power. This will only work for the next special move that Shadow uses and the time to take advantage of it is relatively short. A list of the Doom Powers and what Special Move they replace is as follows:

  • Doom Blast - The range on Shadow’s teleport will be considerably extended. On top of this, his kick attack will create a large x-shaped energy projectile that fires diagonally down from Shadow’s kick towards either the fighter he hit, or the ground below. This extra attack does quite a bit more damage than the standard kick, but is susceptible to being reflected or absorbed like most other projectiles.
  • Doom Spears - Shadow’s Chaos Spear will be upgraded into a Doom Spear which is not only larger, faster, and more damaging, but fires out in a spread pattern with two additional spears at a once! Aesthetically speaking, this version of the Spears attack is more arrowhead shaped than being a jagged bolt.
  • Doom Wing - A large pair of red and black wings will sprout from Shadow’s back. With this move Shadow will be able to spiral and fly through the air in any direction, much like how his regular Chaos Control works. Doom Wing however will not only let Shadow travel a greater distance than Chaos Control does, but it also turns Shadow into a hitbox as he is damaging anything that’s in the way of his destination.
  • Doom Surf - Instead of creating a small rip in space-time with Chaos Magic, Shadow will instead summon the red and black manta ray from his Doom Surf technique. The attack still works similarly, but instead of there being a smaller point in space for fighters to avoid, instead the manta ray will appear below that point before quickly swimming upwards and knocking fighters up into the air the same way that Chaos Magic would. The main difference here is the amount of damage and the size of the attack.

Unique Traits[]

Shadow the Hedgehog is capable of Wall Jumping.
