Character Info[]

Rosalina lives at the Comet Observatory which she uses to travel through space and keep watch over the cosmos. During the Star Festival, Rosalina and the Comet Observatory were attacked by Bowser as he stole the stars that were used to power it. Rosalina sought out Mario’s help, who needed to save Peach from Bowser anyways, and asked him to retrieve the stars so that she could help him stop Bowser’s attempt at creating his own galaxy. When the journey was complete Rosalina returned to her duty as protector of the stars. Despite the fact that this job should keep Rosalina very busy, she somehow still has time to join Mario rather frequently in kart racing, tennis, golf, and other party-related activities.

General Information[]

Entrance[]

Rosalina will fly out onto the stage with a swoosh as a trail of stardust follows her from behind. Her loyal Luma will fly onto the stage alongside Rosalina and give a short twirl before settling down.

Kirby Hat[]

Kirby will wear a wig of Rosalina’s hair on top of his head in addition to her silver crown.

Taunts[]

Up Taunt: Rosalina and Luma will both lean forwards a bit before they spin around like a planet on its axis. As this occurs the Luma will let out a cheerful little chirp.

Down Taunt: Rosalina will crouch down towards the stage before slowly rising back up as she twirls her wand around creating a trail of sparkles. The Luma will dance around in front of Rosalina as this occurs, almost like Rosalina is conducting the Luma’s performance.

Side Taunt: Rosalina will put one hand on her hip and she leans back and looks towards the camera. Rosalina will then twirl her wand in front of her and say, “Mmm hmm!” During the wand twirl, Luma will nod in agreement before performing a backflip.

Victory Poses[]

  1. Rosalina will wave her wand as the Luma flies in from the side and twirls as it gets closer to the screen. The Luma will then land on the ground next to Rosalina and begin cheerfully hopping around her in a circle.
  2. Rosalina will twirl her wand in one hand as she says, “All right!” before holding it gently in both hands. As she does this the Luma will swoosh around behind Rosalina and quickly twirl as it appears in front of her.
  3. Rosalina will wave her wand as the Luma jumps over her, bounces off the ground and back towards Rosalina. Rosalina will gently catch the Luma in her arms and give it a hug.

Moveset[]

Standard Special[]

Luma Shot: Rosalina will twirl her wand as she magically propels her Luma through the air with a fancy bit of gravity manipulation. This move is chargeable which increases both the damage the Luma does when it slams into an opponent as well as how far the Luma travels. Additionally, if this move is used at maximum charge then the Luma will be immune to damage during its flight. Luma will stop immediately after hitting something, or reaching the end of its path and will stay there as it awaits further instructions. While the Luma is away from Rosalina it will move relatively to Rosalina’s position and face the direction that she does. If this move is used while Luma is currently away from Rosalina then it will begin to hop and fly its way back to wherever Rosalina is.

Side Special[]

Star Bits: The Luma will fire out a short-ranged projectile attack as three Star Bits quickly shoot out in front of it. This attack will come out of Luma regardless of if Luma is currently at Rosalina’s side or not and one strategy may be to place Luma near the edge of a stage to prevent another fighter from recovering.

Up Special[]

Launch Star: A Launch Star will appear around Rosalina as it contracts around her briefly before launching Rosalina up into the air! Rosalina’s trajectory can be altered with the control stick to a wide range allowing Rosalina to travel directly up into the air, nearly horizontal, or anywhere in between. Once Rosalina has reached the height of her jump with this special however she will enter the helpless state until she lands. During this time Luma will still be able to use normal grounded attacks and aerial attacks, but will not be able to perform any of its special moves or smash attacks.

Down Special[]

Gravitational Pull: Rosalina will wave her ward around herself as the Star Cursor appears and targets any items or projectiles nearby. This will cause gravity to tug on these objects and pull them closer to Rosalina. Any item that gets pulled close enough to Rosalina will be automatically used, consumed, or equipped (assuming Rosalina is not already equipped with an item. Additionally this move can alter the path of projectile items causing them to go off course and possibly damage other fighters as Rosalina takes control of their flight path.

Final Smash[]

Grand Star: Rosalina will call forth a Grand Star and hold it aloft over her head. The Grand Star will continually spit out smaller stars (about the size of a Warp Star) which fly off from the Grand Star a short distance before disappearing. If these smaller stars hit an opponent they will knock them towards the Grand Star. The Grand Star will gradually get larger over time and any opposing fighter that makes contact with it will get dragged into the Grand Star’s center as they continually take small hints of damage repeatedly. After a short time, the Grand Star will explode, dealing out one final hit of damage and expelling all of its trapped fighters away from it.

Extra Skill[]

Summon Lubba: Rosalina has a star-shaped meter next to her damage percent that can fill up as the match goes on. This meter can only fill up when Rosalina’s Luma damages other fighters or takes damage itself. When the meter is full Rosalina will be able to activate this Extra Skill and replace her current Luma with Lubba. Rosalina’s Luma will turn to Rosalina and wave goodbye, even if it isn’t currently next to her on the stage, and after a short moment Lubba will appear next to Rosalina. This will also work if Rosalina’s Luma has been KO’d. Lubba works in the exact same way as Rosalina’s regular Lumas, but with a few stat differences. Namely, Lubba’s attacks deal more damage and knockback than the regular Lumas, but in turn Lubba moves slower across the stage. Lubba also has twice the HP of an ordinary Luma and is heavy making it much more difficult to KO Lubba. Lubba will disappear when he either runs out of HP or when Rosalina is KO’d and will be replaced by an ordinary Luma on respawn. Lubba’s meter will only start to fill up again after he’s been KO’d and a new Luma has respawned to replace him.

Unique Traits[]

Rosalina is joined in battle by one of her loyal Lumas. The Luma will have 40 HP and ignores the extra damage modifier that is applied during 1v1 battles. Luma can be KO’d in the traditional way by being launched past the blast zones or by reducing its health to 0. When the Luma is KO’d, Rosalina will be unable to use any attacks that utilize the Luma until a new one spawns next to her. Luma’s respawn timer will differ depending on how many fighters are in the match. The Luma will take about 10 seconds to respawn in a 1v1 match, about 7 seconds to respawn if there are 3 fighters in a match, and about 5 seconds if there are 4 or more fighters in a match.

The Luma can be separated from Rosalina as well and act independently by her. In this state, the Luma’s actions are controlled by the player rather than by any AI. When the Luma is launched away from Rosalina (such as by using Luma Shot), its damage will receive a 1.5x multiplier. The Luma will also emit a pulsing ring of light around itself as a sign that it has been separated from Rosalina and the Luma will automatically face any opponents that get near it. While in this state, the Luma can even attack while Rosalina is incapacitated, whether that means she’s been grabbed or put to sleep doesn’t matter. However the Luma will disappear if Rosalina gets KO’d.

The Lumas that appear to assist Rosalina can appear in a variety of colors. The default color is yellow and this is the Luma that will appear at the start of every match. If the Luma itself gets KO’d and has to respawn in the middle of a match it will spawn as either the default yellow or as a green, blue, red, apricot or black Luma.

Rosalina is able to crawl along the floor of the stage.
