In Pilotwings players can fly one of several crafts, in this case a jetpack called the Rocket Belt, to fly around an area and partake in flight tests. These tests will often have the player trying to fly through a series of rings, land on moving platforms, crash into a set of balloons, or even fly through a treacherous cavern.
Item Usage[]
The Rocket Belt is a great recovery item in Smash. When a fighter picks it up they’ll put it on and wear it and from that moment on when they jump into the air they’ll be able to use the Rocket Belt to fly around the stage. This does come with some limitations however as the Rocket Belt operates both on a limited amount of time and a limited amount of fuel. If either runs out then the Rocket Belt will detach from its wearer and fly off the top of the screen. If the Rocket Belt hits a ceiling or some other obstacle first it will explode and damage anything nearby. In order to fly the Jump button has to be held down, this will have the Rocket Belt continue to carry a fight up higher into the air. Letting go of the button will cause the fighter to descend at their normal rate and holding the jump button again will allow them to resume their ascent.
