Boss Info[]
Ridley has been a thorn in Samus Aran’s side ever since he killed her parents at a young age. But this isn’t the same Ridley, not really. This “Ridley” is actually a clone of the original which was created on the BOTTLE SHIP by a group of Galactic Federation scientists. This cloned Ridley was unrecognizable at first and appeared as a small bird-like creature which they dubbed “Little Birdie”. As the little birdie grew and matured, it changed form drastically until it finally revealed its true form to Samus when she hunted it down in Pyrosphere and suffered from a panic attack at seeing her worst nightmare brought back to life.
Boss Fight Details[]
Ridley appears as a Stage Boss on the Pyrosphere stage. As a stage boss, Ridley is a hazard to all fighters on the stage as he flies around to attack not only them but to destroy the platforms that are floating above the stage. Ridley can also power himself up by landing at the edge of the stage and absorbing energy from the tanks located beneath the ledges. This will cause Ridley’s skin to darken as his attacks get stronger. If Ridley takes enough damage, then Ridley will decide to aid whichever fighter did the last necessary hit to him. While Ridley’s attack patterns and general behavior won’t change, he will no longer aim any attacks at that fighter and if that fighter were to be in Ridley’s way they wouldn’t take any damage or knockback from Ridley. That fighter is still capable of attacking Ridley however and doing so will not cause Ridley to change sides. Finally, if Ridley takes enough damage to actually be KO’d, then the fighter that dealt the last hit against him will gain a point in Timed matches.
Attacks[]
Charge[]
Ridley will open up his appearance on Pyrosphere with this attack. Ridley will start out by flying up from below the stage and going off screen. After a few moments pass Ridley will slowly float downwards until he is flying in the middle of the background. Ridley will then start to take flight as he charges towards the center of the stag e. This will cause fighters who are hit to be damaged and knocked away. Ridley can use this attack other than when he first enters the stage and in that case he will start it off by flying off screen to the side before reappearing in the background.
Fireball[]
Ridley will form a large fireball in front of his mouth before aiming it towards a random fighter and firing it. This flame moves rather quickly and will burst into an aoe on contact.
Fireball Spread[]
Ridley will form a large fireball in front of his mouth, making the start of this attack look very similar to his regular Fireball. However once the flame is unleashed it will be revealed that Ridley is breathing out three fireballs at once in a spread formation. The middle fireball will be the only one that is aimed towards a particular fighter while the other two follow predetermined paths based on the initial fireball. Beyond that, these fireballs work just as the normal Fireball attack does.
Explosive Blast[]
Ridley will form an even larger fireball in front of him before aiming it down towards the center of the stage. This fireball moves slower than the normal Fireball attack and will not stop if it hits a fighter as it will continue moving until it hits the center of the stage. Once the fireball has landed, it will explode causing greater damage than the normal fireball attack. Additionally, this will cause a shockwave of flame to burst out from the explosion which will travel across the ground. Ridley will only use this variant of Fireball after he’s been powered up from the energy in the tanks.
Triple Slash[]
Ridley will charge forwards across the stage as he makes three swiping attacks with his claws, taking a wide step forward with each swipe. These swipes are capable of not only damaging the fighters but destroying any platforms in Ridley’s way. Curiously each swipe does a different amount of damage with the first hit dealing the most and the second hit dealing significantly less. The third hit however will deal just a little bit less damage than the first. Distance-wise these slashes will carry Ridley halfway across the stage in total.
Swift Slash[]
Ridley will rear back with a claw before quickly dashing forward from one side of the stage all the way to the other as he swipes his claw across the stage hitting anyone in his way. Ridley will end this attack with a spin damaging any fighter right next to him as he faces towards the center of the stage.
Stomp[]
Ridley will fly up to the top of the stage to begin this attack before sticking out one of his feet and crashing downwards into the stage foot first. Ridley will generally only start this attack when he’s above one of the fighters, but there is enough time for fighters to get out of the way. If Ridley crashes through any of the floating platforms on the stage with this attack he will destroy them.
Roar[]
Ridley will let out a loud roar which will paralyze fighters who are extremely close to Ridley. While these fighters will take damage right away, it will take a couple seconds before the paralysis wears off and the fighters get sent flying away. During that time other fighters can swoop in to deal additional damage while the fighters are unable to defend themselves.
Piercing Tail[]
Ridley will fly off towards the side of the stage and just slightly below the main platform where he grabs onto the side of it to brace himself. After a moment Ridley will impale the stage on his tail as he pierce up through the stage a good distance catching fighters by surprise and sending them flying up into the air. Ridley will pierce the stage three times in a row and will potentially aim for different spots up to a third of the stage away as he tries to aim for the fighters. Ridley will only use this attack after he’s been powered up from the energy in the tanks.
Backwards Leap[]
A bit of a strange attack, this one is meant to keep the fighters on their toes. Simply enough, Ridley will leap backwards, sometimes twice, and ram himself into fighters behind them. Ridley can do this twice in succession to get from one side of the stage to the other and if the first hit makes contact with a fighter, it’s likely the second hit will hit them again.
