Boss Info[]
A sadistic and bloodthirsty creature serving as the military commander of the Space Pirates. He’s responsible for the slaughter of the K-2L colony where he also murdered Samus’ parents. One reason why Ridley is such a terrifying threat is his ability to seemingly always be able to come back from any defeat. Whether it’s by eating human flesh to recover from his wounds or being cybernetically augmented and turned into a cyborg, Ridley is the threat that just won’t stop coming.
Boss Fight Details[]
Ridley’s boss battle is fought on a midair platform with Ridley flying above the platform itself. Ridley tends to spend his time towards one of the far edges of the platform and may even hover entirely off the platform itself and over the abyss. His attacks are slower which makes it easier to know what he’s about to do and prepare for it.
Attacks[]
Blasting Roar[]
With a roar Ridley will flap his wings violently and create a strong wind which pushes from behind Ridley and towards the fighter attempting to send them away from Ridley and possibly even off the stage itself. During the roar Ridley’s head can actually damage fighters if they’re touching it at the time.
Flying Stomp[]
For this attack Ridley will land on the stage itself and then leap up into the air before crashing back down trying to stomp on the player. The point the player is standing on when Ridley jumps into the air will be where Ridley slams back down which makes it fairly easy to try and avoid the attack.
Claw Swipe[]
Ridley will let out a screech to telegraph this attack before flying in low and sweeping his claws all along the length of the stage. This attack also has Ridley switch which side of the stage he’s on.
Background Ram[]
This attack has Ridley fly up and off the screen only to reappear in the background. Ridley will roar as he rushes back at the stage from the background and zeroes in on the fighters location. If the fighter doesn’t move out of Ridley’s way they’ll get rammed into and sent flying away with damage.
Tail Sweep[]
Ridley will spear his tail into the stage and fly forwards dragging the tail through the stage as he goes and damaging anyone in his way. At lower difficulties Ridley will only fly halfway through the stage before returning to his previous position, but on higher difficulties he’ll go all the way to the other side of the stage. Ridley will commonly use this move twice back to back with it becoming more likely the higher the difficulty is set at.
Slamming Rush[]
Similar to Background Ram, Ridley will fly up above the screen and disappear for a few moments. From either the left or the right Ridley will reappear and attempt to slam into the player from the side of the screen and knock them away. The speed of this attack is somewhat random, but does tend to be slower on lower difficulties and faster on higher difficulties.
Loop-De-Loop[]
This midair attack has Ridley fly in a loop-de-loop through the air. This attack can hit multiple times if the player is in the wrong place at the wrong time as Ridley’s boss flies around. Wily players can try to jump into the attack and be safe right in the middle of the circle that Ridley creates.
