Character Info[]

In a world of Drivers and Blades, Rex is just a humble salvager taking dives into the Cloud Sea to uncover treasure as he rode around on the back of his old friend Azurda. A job gone wrong ended in his death (and resurrection) as he became connected to the legendary Aegis. Together, Rex and Pyra would travel across the Cloud Sea helping those that they can while trying to reach Elysium and meet the Architect.

Entrance[]

Rex will leap up onto the stage from below as if he was returning from a salvaging mission.

Kirby Hat[]

Kirby will have Rex’s mop of hair on his head and a mini replica of the Aegis Sword on his back.

Taunts[]

Up Taunt: Azurda will pop out of Rex’s helmut and give a smile and wave to the camera as Rex says “Mornin’ Gramps!” and Pyra/Mythra give a slight chuckle.

Down Taunt: Rex pulls out the Aegis Sword and spins it around as he shouts, “Let’s show them a thing or three” as Pyra/Mythra shout “Yeah!” and cheer Rex on.

Side Taunt: Rex and Azurda raise their fists into the air as Rex says, “This is too easy!” Alternatively, sometimes when using this taunt Pyra/Mythra will say, “We can do this Rex!”

Victory Poses[]

Rex will stand back to back with Pyra/Mythra as he cockily says, “I could have done that blindfolded!”
Rex and Pyra/Mythra will give a large congratulatory clap to each other as Rex says, “Hey hey good show!” Alternatively instead of Rex saying a quote, if Pyra is out sometimes she might say “Our bonds are as one!” and if Mythra is out she will say “You won the second you called on me.”
Rex will let out a short laugh and say “Easy peasy!” before stumbling forward and his helmet (containing Azurda) will slam down over his face. If Pyra is out she will let out a short embarrassed chuckle however if Mythra is out she’ll facepalm at Rex’s antics.

Moveset[]

Standard Special[]

Anchor Shot: Taking aim with his left arm, Rex will fire off the anchor on it similar to a grapple hook. The anchor has some good range on it, right about as far as Simon Belmont can swing his whip. If it makes contact with an opponent it will do light damage and minimal knockback. However if you tilt the control stick towards the opponent then after making contact the anchor will pull Rex towards them about half the distance they were away. If you tilt the control stick away from the opponent then it will instead pull them half the distance towards Rex. This move can also be used as a tether recovery for latching onto platforms.

Side Special[]

Rolling Smash: Similar in a way to Shulk’s Back Slash, with this move Rex will do a forward frontal flip and slam his sword into the ground. Unlike Shulk however this move will not do more damage when attacking an opponent from behind. Instead it’s damage is more balanced between the two ways to use Back Slash.

Up Special[]

Double Spinning Edge: This move is similar to Link’s classic Spin Attack. Rex will leap up into the air as he spins his sword around his body once, then as he rises further into the air he’ll swing his sword around him one more time. When compared to Link, Double Spinning Edge is only two hits and both of them hit for more damage and knockback than Link’s does. Double Spinning Edge does not trap opponents in to try and hit them with both swings, instead each swing is treated separately so unless an opponent is at really low damage the odds of them being hit by both attacks is pretty low.

Down Special[]

Prominence Revolt/Ray of Punishment: This Down Special will change depending on whether Pyra or Mythra is out on the field. When Pyra is on the field, the attack will be Prominence Revolt. With Prominence Revolt Rex will plunge his sword down into the ground as Pyra will lightly float off the ground creating a blazing tower of flames surrounding Rex. This move can be charged and doing do will increase the damage as well as how high above Rex the flames will reach into the air. This can be a pretty good anti-air attack.

When Mythra is on the field, the attack will be Ray of Punishment. For this attack Rex will again plunge his sword into the ground as Mythra rises up into the air just a tad. The different here is that Mythra’s attack will involve her creating a small bead of light which she will throw diagonally down a short distance ahead of Rex. When the bead of light makes contact with the ground (or a fighter!) it will burst out into an exploding sphere of light damaging opponents and knocking them away. Like Pyra’s Prominence Revolt, this move can be charged up to increase the damage and size of the attack.

Final Smash[]

Burning Sword/Sacred Arrow: Like the Down Special, Rex’s Final Smash will changed based on whether Pyra or Mythra is out on the field. If Pyra is on the field then her Level 4 Blade Art, Burning Sword, will be used. This move will see Rex and Pyra both grabbing ahold of the Aegis Sword as it becomes wreathed in flames and flames fire out from the top of the blade. Together, Rex & Pyra will raise the Aegis until it is pointed straight in the air with the flames towering high above them (and on most stages like Battlefield and Final Destination the flames would reach the top of the screen) before they swing the blade in a downwards arc causing a great fiery sword swipe to occur in front of them. This attack can hit for a large distance, all of the Battlefield stage actually, but since it is a single sword swipe attack it can be dodged with the right timing.

When Mythra is on the field, the final smash will instead be Sacred Arrow. Sacred Arrow will start out similarly to Burning Sword as Rex & Mythra will both grab ahold of the Aegis Sword as it becomes wreathed in light and its blade of light getting larger. Together, Rex & Mythra will raise the Aegis Sword into the air, but instead of swinging it down Mythra will instead call upon beams of light to fall down diagonally from the sky to strike foes in front of them. This move covers about the same range as Pyra’s Burning Sword, however each beam of light does less damage than Burning Sword and several will strike down from above at once making this attack more difficult to dodge.

Extra Skill[]

Aegis Swap: This Extra Skill is how Rex players will switch between using Pyra and Mythra. This Extra Skill comes out very quick however it cannot be used when Rex has a Final Smash ready to be used. When Rex has Pyra out on the field, the Aegis Sword will be red and emit flames. Rex’s Defense is increased while his Attack is decreased. As noted above, his Down Special will become Prominence Revolt and his Final Smash will be Burning Sword. Even Rex’s Taunts and Victory Poses are affected by using this Extra Skill.

Salvager [Nia, Dromarch, & Agate] - Rex's Salvager outfit's color palette will change to reference Nia. Pyra and Mythra's palettes will change to reference Dromarch and Agate.
Salvager [Vandham, Kora, & Roc] - Rex's Salvager outfit's color palette will change to reference Vandham. Pyra and Mythra's palettes will change to reference Kora and Roc.
Salvager [Morag, Brighid, & Aegaeon] - Rex's Salvager outfit's color palette will change to reference Morag. Pyra and Mythra's palettes will change to reference Brighid and Aegaeon.
Salvager [Hugo, Praxis, & Theory] - Rex's Salvager outfit's color palette will change to reference Hugo. Pyra and Mythra's palettes will change to reference Praxis and Theory.
Master Driver [Default, KOS-MOS, & T-elos] - For this alt Rex will wear his Master Driver armor. Pyra and Mythra's palettes will change to reference KOS-MOS and T-elos.
