Boss Info[]
After forcing Kirby to fight against his possessed friends and his Blade form, Dark Matter finally appears in its Real form towards the end of Kirby's Dream Land 2. Afterwards, the formidable alien foe returns in a slew of Kirby titles to cause a ruckus in Dream Land. Despite its massive presence as one of the pink puffball's most terrible enemies, Dark Matter is still only a subordinate to the even more intimidating Zero. It is a sentient materialization of the compound of the same name and seems to lord over Zero's other smaller versions of Dark Matter. Gooey is also made of Dark Matter.
Boss Fight Details[]
A fight against Dark Matter Blade occurs on Fountain of Dreams. Once beaten, they'll lay on the ground in defeat for a moment before becoming consumed in by a cloud of darkness. Suddenly, Real Dark Matter will shroud the stage in darkness, transforming it into its red-and-black patterned domain as Fountain of Dreams seems to engage in perpetual freefall. It will float around the stage in a similar fashion to Kracko at first, then becoming more unhinged, random, and quick with its movements. Unlike Kracko, Dark Matter will hurt a player upon merely touching them, let alone attacking them.
Attacks[]
Dark Laser Flare[]
Dark Matter blinks, releasing a dark lightning bolt from its eye a moment later. The lightning bolt travels about as quickly as Iroh's, traveling in a jagged horizontal, vertical, or diagonal path to hone-in on opponents. Those hit by the lightning will be dealt a devastating blow that could break a shield in just one or two goes and carries heavy knockback elements. As Dark Matter's HP whittles down, it will release up to 4 lightning bolts at once. However, they will lose their honing abilities and release in a two-, three-, or four-pronged pattern that ultimately looks like an "X". Dark Matter compensates for the lack of a honing ability by spinning around slowly as the lightning unleashes, keeping the bolts in place for a few seconds as it spins around in a 360.
Dark Matter Cloud[]
Dark Matter flashes in a multi-colored aura for a moment, closing its eye and releasing the Dark Matter Cloud from The Crystal Shards from its body. This shadow of Real Dark Matter will keep its eyes locked on its foes, sweeping into them. Those hit by the Dark Matter Cloud will become possessed, scrambling their controls for a number of seconds as they are dealt 1%-3% damage per second. Wriggling the control stick around will get the cloud out sooner, and the game begins again. It can be kept at bay and even dispelled with enough fight against it.
Dark Matter Spore[]
Dark Matter idles in one place as it looks towards the camera and widens its eye, releasing the ten "spores" attached to its body. They hone-in on fighters, racking up persistent melee damage as they quickly burst into contained explosions of electricity. A well-timed smack can send them back towards Dark Matter, damaging it instead of the player.
