Stage Info[]

Poke Floats as a stage doesn’t come from any particular location from the Pokemon games. Instead it’s more of an idea or a what if. What if there was a parade with a bunch of balloons designed to look like Pokemon? What if characters from the Super Smash Bros. games fought on top of these balloons during the parade? That’s the kind of stage you have with Poke Floats!

Stage Layout[]

Contrary to popular belief, this stage is actually not an auto scroller as the camera stays focused on on spot while all of the Pokemon balloons float in and out on the screen. The balloons of 18 different Pokemon will fly through the stage. They appear in the following order and the whole cycle takes about 3 and a half minutes to complete before it cycles back to the first balloon.

Squirtle - The fight begins with the players fighting on top of a balloon of Squirtle with its arms outstretched. Squirtle starts off in the middle of the screen, but will slowly float downwards until it disappears.

Onix - When Squirtle has descended low enough that its right arm has disappeared, an Onix will appear from the right side of the screen. The Onix will fly in until it reaches the middle of the stage where it will pause briefly before beginning to descend towards the bottom.

Psyduck - When Onix gets close to the bottom of the screen a Psyduck head will slowly pop up on the left side of the field. This will also cause the Onix float to be bumped up and and turn diagonal as it floats off to the right side of the screen and rights itself back horizontally before disappearing completely. Psyduck remains in this position until the next balloon, Chikorita, settles itself into the bottom right corner of the stage. At this point Psyduck will float upwards, revealing its whole body, and float up past the top of the screen.

Chikorita - When about half of the Onix has gone past the edge of the screen a Chikorita will quickly fly in from the left side of the screen and begin to slowly drift downwards until it occupies the bottom right corner of the stage. When Weezing appears Chikorita will rise up about midway up the stage before flying off past the right side of the screen.

Weezing - When Psyduck begins to fly up, Weezing will appear below Chikorita as it takes Chikorita’s spot in that corner. Weezing will stay in this place very briefly before continuing to rise up a little more and then rest in place a couple times before going all the way up past the top of the screen.

Slowpoke - Slowpoke comes in from the left at about the same time as Weezing where it will take the spot previously occupied by Psyduck. As Weezing rises through the air Slowpoke will continue to float towards the right and once it reaches the middle of the stage it will extend its tail out to be used as a long platform. Slowpoke will rest here in this position for a few seconds before continuing to float past the right side of the screen.

Porygon - A couple seconds after Slowpoke moves again three Porygons will quickly fly through the middle of the stage going right to left. The first and third are at about the same level as each other while the second Porygon is just a bit higher in the air than the other two.

Wooper - After the Porygons disappear a Wooper will quickly rise up on the left side of the stage and drift over towards the right side of the screen as it floats about for a bit rising and falling as the next four balloons make their presence known on the screen before it disappears.

Sudowoodo - When Wooper first drifts over towards the right side of the screen a Sudowoodo will rise up and take up the whole left side of the screen.

Snorlax - As Sudowoodo disappears up past the top a Snorlax will rise up from the bottom and settle there for a bit before the next balloon appears and pushes Snorlax back down past the bottom. Snorlax’s arrival will also push the Wooper balloon up towards the top of the screen before it drifts back down.

Venusaur -  When the Wooper balloon drifts back down towards Snorlax a Venusaur will appear from the right which sends the Wooper hurtling over towards the left and the Snorlax back down. Venusaur will hang here for a bit before floating to the left and going off screen as the Snorlax disappears completely. At this time the Wooper will also rise upwards a bit before drifting back towards the right.

Seel - A Seel comes in from behind Venusaur but instead of staying in place for a bit it will just follow Venusaur in its journey offscreen. At this time Wooper will begin to finally make its exit by floating towards the upper right corner and then disappearing past it.

Wobbuffet - As Seel begins to disappear and Wooper floats away a Wobbuffet head will quickly poke itself out in the bottom right corner before quickly disappearing from where it came. A quick second later the Wobbuffet will reveal itself again in the same spot and float forwards a bit until its full body displays. Wobbuffet will remain in this spot until Goldeen begins to disappear and the Lickitung shows up.

Unown - After Wobbuffet returns a single Unown will float in from the left side of the screen and head off towards the right. A second Unown will fly in from the left side of the screen, lower than the first, at the same time the Lickitung appears. This Unown will slowly drift at first before rising up and continuing to move to the right. At this point several other Unown will begin to fly through the stage going from both the left and the right until the Geodude balloon disappears. At this point the last of the Unown will disappear.

Goldeen - As the first Unown is nearly off the screen a Goldeen will flop up in the space between Seel and Wobbuffet. The Goldeen will quickly fall and then jump up twice with each jump rising quickly into the air before it falls back down below the screen and disappears.

Lickitung - As Goldeen begins to fall from its last jump a Lickitung will come in from behind on the left side of the screen and travel towards the right. Lickitung’s tongue will start out extended. After Lickitung briefly settles itself in the bottom right corner it will retract its tongue back into its mouth. After its retracted the Lickitung will resume flying past the right side of the stage while extending its tongue again before it disappears completely.

Chansey - When Lickitung begins to make its exit a Chansey will quickly pop up on the left side of the screen and hang out for a few seconds before dropping down below. Following this Chansey will pop up on the right side of the screen and stay there for a couple seconds before it falls again. Chansey will repeat this pattern appearing on the left and then the right until Geodude begins to appear. At this point the Chansey will disappear below for good.

Geodude - When Chansey pops up on the right for the second time a Geodude will float in from the left at the bottom of the stage. The Geodude will remain for a few seconds with Unowns flying above it. After a few seconds of this the Geodude will float off towards the right. When both the Geodude and the last of the Unown leave the screen the Squirtle balloon will pop up from the bottom as the cycles starts over.
