Stage Info[]
PictoChat was a drawing and chatting application that was available on the Nintendo DS family of handhelds before being replaced by Swapnote for the Nintendo 3DS. PictoChat was used as a chatroom for friends to talk to each other with as they could type as well as draw pictures in the bottom screen. Once the message was sent it would appear on the top screen for all of the chatters to see.
Stage Design[]
Stage Layout[]
PictoChat has a very simple layout by design with a long black platform designed to look like it came straight out of the PictoChat application. This platform will have text on it saying “Now Entering [A]: NAME” with the name updating to whatever is the most recent fighter who is respawning after being KO’d.
Hazards[]
PictoChat:[]
The PictoChat application itself is the hazard for this stage as it will constantly be cycling between different drawings which come with a variety of effects and platform layouts. These drawings are made up of solid black lines which serve as platforms and obstacles as well as soft gray lines which are purely part of the background and aesthetic of the drawing. The match will typically start with 13.33 seconds of peace before a sketch starts to be drawn. That sketch will then remain on the field for another 13.33 before being erased. Following that the stage will enter a non-ending cycle of having a peaceful stage for 13.33 seconds followed by a hazardous sketch for 13.33 seconds. There are 27 unique drawings that can appear on this stage and they will appear in a predetermined order which is randomized at the start of every match. No drawing will be repeated until the stage has cycled through the entire list. The full list of drawings and their effects are as follows:
- Angry Eyes - Two angry eyes will be drawn floating above the platform. The eyes themselves will be in the background, but the angry eyebrows serve as platforms.
- Blocks - A set of blocks will be drawn stacked up on top of each other. Though the blocks are drawn to look 3D, they are still just 2D platforms allowing for fighters to battle on top of them.
- Boat #1 - A simple boat will be drawn on the screen. Waves of water and a flag will be drawn in the background with only the main platform of the boat becoming a platform to fight on.
- Boat #2 - A small sailboat will be drawn sailing on water within two boundaries. The sail of the boat is in the background, but the boat itself, water, and the boundaries, are all solid obstacles and platforms.
- Carnival Ride - A plus-shaped Ferris wheel with four platforms will be drawn in the middle of the stage. This ferris wheel will rotate counter-clockwise.
- Clock - A clock will be drawn in the middle of the screen where only the hands of the clock are solid parts of the drawing. The hands are constantly moving, just like how a clock would, but in a sped-up fashion. The hands can serve as either obstacles or as platforms depending on where they are on the clock.
- Dominoes - Five thick lines will be drawn in the air simulating the appearance of a series of dominoes that are being knocked over. These dominoes are all solid and can serve as both solid obstacles and platforms.
- Extension - Two banners will be drawn above the left and right edges of the stage which creates floating platforms just off to the left and right.
- Eyes - A diagonal line will be drawn from the bottom left to the upper right. This line cannot be passed through and must be jumped over to get around. There will also be two eyes drawn in the background of the stage which are separated by this line.
- Farm - Simple additional platforms will be drawn on the left and right side of the platform extending the area that fighters can battle on. On top of these platforms some background grass will be drawn and there will also be a simple farmhouse and sheep in the background.
- Fire - Two floating fireballs will be drawn above the stage. These fireballs will inflict 1% of fire damage and low knockback to any fighter that makes contact with them.
- Gusty Gus - A large face will be drawn on the right. This face can be stood on top of, but the platform for it is rather small. While this face is on the screen a strong wind effect will be in effect which blows everything towards the left.
- House - A simple house will be drawn on the stage. Only the house’s slanted roof will be a platform for fighters.
- Lines - A series of hastily drawn lines will appear above the platform which vary in size. Each of these line serves as an uneven platform for fighting.
- Minecart - A halfpipe-like structure will be drawn above the stage with a small minecart on top of it. While the halfpipe can be fought on top of, the minecart will be constantly going back and forth along it and will deal 10% damage to contact. Fighters can also stand on top of the minecart much like they can with a Rolling Crate.
- Missiles - Two rockets will be drawn on the left and right, with one placed so that it will pass harmlessly above the other. Thet wo rockets will slowly fly forwards and if they touch a fighter they will explode on contact inflicting 25% damage and medium knockback in a small aoe.
- Pendulum - A swinging pendulum will be drawn in the middle of the stage which moves constantly. The pendulum doesn’t damage fighters on contact, but it does work as a solid obstacle and can block movement as well as be stood on top of.
- Piranha Plant - A tall Piranha Plant will be drawn in the middle of the stage. Only the head will be part of the solid drawing and the teeth are the only damaging part of it. Touching the teeth will deal 10% damage and launch fighters up into the air.
- Scaffolding - Two ladders will be drawn on the stage with a length of scaffolding connecting them. Fighters can both climb on the ladders and use the scaffolding as a solid platform.
- Singing Man - The head of a man singing will be drawn coming out of the stage over on the right which fighters can battle on. On the left side of the stage will be the man’s hand which can be fought on as well. Musical notes will be drawn in the background which drift out from the man’s mouth to show off that he’s singing.
- Spears - Four tall spears will be drawn so that they are jutting out of the stage. The spears will be as spread out between each other as they can be. Fighters will have to jump over the spears to get from one section to another however if a fighter touches the head of the spear by mistake they will take 10% damage and be knocked away.
- Spikes - Two sets of spikes will be drawn on the left and right sides of the screen. These spikes will inflict 20% damage on contact and knock fighters back towards the center of the screen, but usually not with enough force to KO.
- Springs - Two springs will be drawn to the left and right of the platform. When a Fighter steps on one of these springs they will be bounced up high into the air similarly to if they had stepped on the Spring item.
- Tree - A large three will be drawn in the middle of the stage which has three large leafy sections that can be used as solid obstacles/platforms. The base of the tree is in the background.
- Trees - Two pine trees will be drawn on the stage. Their trunks will be in the background, but their tiered leafy tops will serve as solid obstacles/platforms.
- Umbrella - A simple umbrella will be drawn on the stage which creates a slanted triangle platform out of the umbrella’s canopy.
- Whale - A large whale will be drawn on the platform. Both the whale and the waterspout its spewing are solid platforms that can be fought on top of and do not move.
