Character Info[]
Raphael is a mild-mannered 18-year old living in Paris France who hides a big secret— he is a notorious art thief known as Phantom R! However, he only steals fakes and forgeries, returning the real pieces a few days later. Three years after his father mysteriously vanishes, Phantom R sets his sights on an artifact that could help lead him to his father’s whereabouts. He soon encounters and teams up with a violinist named Marie who is being pursued by a man claiming to be the recently resurrected Napoleon Bonaparte.

Entrance[]
Phantom R puts his hat on his head with his arm outstretched and quips, “it’s showtime!”
Kirby Hat[]
Kirby dons Phantom R’s hat while sporting his red hair.
Taunts[]
Up Taunt: Phantom R doffs his hat while giving a small bow, then straightens up and puts it back on (If using an alternate colour without a hat, the animation is slightly adjusted).
Down Taunt: Fondue appears at Phantom R’s side; he squats down and pets his head.
Side Taunt: Phantom R flips his father’s coin and catches it between his fingers, then puts it in his pocket.
Victory Poses[]
- Phantom R spins around, jumps and twirls in the air, and shoots out his arm with a closed fist. “Rhythm King!”
- Phantom R crosses his foot over another and holds his arms in a bowing gesture. “That’s the ticket!”
- Phantom R holds Marie’s hand and twirls her around, then pulls her in for a dip. “Show’s over, folks!”
Moveset[]
Standard Special[]
Showstopper: Phantom R and his backup dancers strike a flashy finishing pose that varies in power based on the Rhythm Meter’s current rank (see Extra Skill section).
Side Special[]
Looting Lunge: This move is similar to Marth’s dancing blade. Pressing side-B repeatedly makes Phantom R dash forward and strike four poses in this order:
- Yellow pose - Phantom R puts his left hand on his hip and shoots his right hand up
- Red pose - Phantom R dips his hat with one hand on the brim, with his other arm reaching out behind him.
- Blue pose - Phantom R ducks down on one knee with a hand holding his hat.
- Green pose - Phantom R squats facing the audience with his arms spread out.
Unlike Dancing Blade, Phantom R must commit to the move once started and can’t cancel it until all four poses are complete, or if he takes damage. These poses are taken from minigames where Phantom R must sneak past guards by hiding behind posed statues, such as the Looting the Louvre mini-game.
Up Special[]
Hang Glider: Phantom R uses Charlie’s hang glider to quickly ascend vertically . Holding down on the control stick when at max height will send the hang glider pitching down to crash land on the stage, dealing damage (Phantom R will receive about 1.5% damage from this as well). Alternatively, the hang glider will disappear at the peak of its flight.
Down Special[]
Destroyer Diabolique: Phantom R enters a fighting stance; he will stay in this stance until it is cancelled with Down B again or when taking damage. This is a unique counter in that it can be used multiple times in a row, but the timing it trickier. While in this stance, Phantom R can press A or B to instantly counter a strike with a palm thrust right before being hit to knock an opponent back. He can repeatedly do this for multiple attacks, even to cancel one counter animation into another. So long as a button is pressed with precise timing, this makes defending against multiple opponents in a fray very effective. There are a couple caveats, though: Phantom R is still susceptible to grabs while in this stance, and he can only use it while on the ground. The inspiration comes from mini-games where Phantom R must fight off multiple enemies at once.
Final Smash[]
Power of Tiamat: Phantom R equips the bracelet of Tiamat and shoots a bolt of energy from his wrist, trapping any opponents hit with it in a cinematic finisher. Marie plays her violin to join her energy with Phantom R’s bracelet, who holds it up to unleash multiple beams of energy. Opponents are lifted into the air receiving continuous damage, and launched when the cutscene ends.
Extra Skill[]
Showstopper: Phantom R has a Rhythm Meter that can rise or fall depending on how well he is ‘performing’ in the battle, starting at E, then D, C, B and lastly A, while changing colours with each rank (Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, respectively). The meter fills faster the more moves are chained together without taking damage, but will drop if too many moves miss in a row or when receiving damage. When executing a Showstopper with the neutral special move, the damage and knock-back will be increased the more the meter is filled up. Phantom R’s backup dancer’s appear on either side of him, and the trio do a synchronized jump and a pose, with flashy lights and a burst of energy pulsing out in a radius around them. The meter will be depleted and reset to the ‘E’ rank, requiring Phantom R to refill it overtime.
