Enemy Info[]
When Metroids were kept isolated to their home planet of SR388, they weren’t considered to be a major threat. This changed when the Space Pirates stole a few of them from a Galactic Federation research ship for use as bioweapons. Since then Metroids have been spread out across various planets throughout the galaxy where they have endangered many lives and species through their ability to drain a creature’s life energy. Throughout her adventures Samus Aran has come across these creatures several times and even used some of their DNA as a vaccine to save her life from the X Parasites.
Fight Pattern[]
As enemies, Metroids operate in the same manner as the Baby Metroid Assist Trophy which is fitting since in previous Smash games the Assist Trophy was just of a generic Metroid. Metriods will float about through the air, drifting leisurely, until they get near a fighter. Metroids will then float towards that fighter and attempt to latch onto their heads as they drain the fighter of their health and use it to restore their own. While Metroids feed, the fighter is relatively immobilized and can really only struggle against the Metroid’s hold. Fighters can break free depending on how much damage they’ve taken, but either way Metroids will eventually relinquish their hold. When Metroids let go of a fighter it will be a couple seconds before they can latch on again giving the fighter a chance to fight back. Metroids are also very vulnerable to ice-based attacks. They will take extra damage from any ice-related attacks and can be frozen in place.
