Boss Info[]

After his defeat in Norfair at the hands of Samus Aran, the Space Pirate High Command ordered him to be revived. To do so, Ridley’s body was infused with cybernetics including armor plating and weapons systems. Though the process was painful, Meta Ridley’s mobility, strength, and offensive capabilities were shown to be much greater than the original’s. Meta Ridley would next encounter Samus at the Artifact Temple on Tallon IV. After their fight, Meta Ridley was seemingly destroyed once more as he fell into an abyss and exploded. This wasn’t enough to destroy Meta Ridley however as he would return again under the corruption of Phazon and be known as Omega Ridley.

Boss Fight Details[]

During this boss fight, Meta Ridley will spend most of his time flying just above the Falcon Flyer. Meta Ridley can fly around above the Falcon Flyer and will sometimes hover off to the left or right sides of it. When fought in the story mode, players have just 2 minutes to fight and defeat Meta Ridley. Failure to defeat Meta Ridley in that time will result in a Game Over.

Attacks[]

Mega Fire Ball[]

Ridley will fly in towards the Falcon Flyer from the left side of the screen as his eyes glow a fiery red. Afterwards, Ridley will breathe out a large fireball and fire it down at the front of the Falcon Flyer. This fireball is heavily damaging and can easily KO on higher difficulties. Due to the power of this move, it is rarely used.

Falcon Flyer Slam[]

Meta Ridley will begin by flying off screen to the left, before returning and slamming his claws against the back of the Falcon Flyer. This will cause the Falcon Flyer to shake and deal heavy damage to any fighter who was standing on top of the Falcon Flyer at the time. When this attack happens, the back of the Falcon Flyer will actually dip down below the blast zones. This means that a fighter would be instantly KO’d if they were standing on the far left side of the Falcon Flyer when Meta Ridley slammed against it.

Claw Swipe[]

Ridley will let out a screech to telegraph this attack before flying in low and sweeping his claws all along the length of the stage. This attack also has Ridley switch which side of the stage he’s on.

Swoop[]

Signaling this attack with a roar, Meta Ridley will swoop down and fly across the Falcon Flyer healing high damage to any fighters in his path. Meta Ridley travels the full length of the Falcon Flyer with this attack and players who are caught at the end of the attack as Meta Ridley flies back up into the air will receive extra damage.

Tail Sweep[]

Meta Ridley will angle his tail down at the stage and then stab forwards with it as he flies through the air and across to the other side of the Falcon Flyer with his tail capable of hitting the fighters multiple times. While Meta Ridley’s entire tail can damage fighters on contact, the bladed edge of his tail does an increased amount of damage.

Rapid Fire Shot[]

While in the air, Meta Ridley will roar and fire multiple fireballs down at the Falcon Flyer and towards the fighters. These fireballs are all fast, but can be easily dodged or reflected back at Meta Ridley.

Falcon Flyer Pull[]

Meta Ridley will fly over to the back of the Falcon Flyer and fall down onto the back of it as he grips on. During this attack two things are happening, the first is that Meta Ridley is firing several large fireballs up into the air to try and stop fighters from attacking him from above. The second is that the ship is slowly being pulled downwards and similar to the Falcon Flyer Slam attack, if a fighter stays on the left side of the ship as it’s being dragged down they can be instantly KO’d.

Falcon Flyer Smash[]

Meta Ridley will fly straight up into the air, and then after a couple moments dive back down and slam hard into the Falcon Flyer. This will cause the Falcon Flyer to disappear completely from the screen for a quick second as it gets forced down below the blast zones. If the fighters want to survive, they must jump during this attack. If they are on the Falcon Flyer when it gets slammed downwards they will be KO’d as the ship goes below the blast zone.
