Character Info[]
Mach Rider is the ritual hero of, well, Mach Rider! In the year 2112 the Earth has been invaded by alien forces. It’s up to Mach Rider to drive around from one sector to another as they gun down the alien invaders riding their own bikes called Quadrunners. Why these alien forces are riding motorcycles is anyone’s guess, but it makes it even easier for Mach Rider to defeat them either by gunning them down or running them off the road.
General Information[]
Entrance[]
The *vroom* *vroom* of an engine will be heard as the Mach Rider speeds onto the stage on top of his mach bike before dismounting it.
Kirby Hat[]
Kirby will wear the Mach Rider’s helmet over his entire body.
Taunts[]
Up Taunt: An 8-bit black oil drum will appear next to Mach Rider. Mach Rider will aim their gun at it and blow up the oil drum as it bursts into a pixelated explosion.
Down Taunt: Mach Rider will tap a button on their wrist to open up a small small that pops out of their suit on their arm. On the screen will be two routes, A and B, that Mach Rider can choose to take. Once Mach Rider selects a route they will close the screen.
Side Taunt: Mach Rider will turn and face the camera as they hold up their gun in one hand mimicking their pose seen in Mach Rider.
Victory Poses[]
- Mach Rider will ride out onto the victory screen and pop a wheelie as they wave at the camera.
- Mach Rider will be seen on their bike spinning out in a donut in the center of the screen before pumping their fist into the air.
- Mach Rider rides in on the Mach Bike with a rumble, driving dangerously close to the camera before skidding to a stop and spraying dirt in its direction.
Moveset[]
Standard Special[]
Mach Guns: Mach Rider will hop onto the Mach Bike and click a button on their handlebars which causes a spray of bullets to fire from the bike’s mounted machine guns. These bullets can be fired out in either short bursts or with continuous fire by holding down the input. Firing the guns continuously will cause the cone of the attack to get narrow quickly as well as cause the fire rate to eventually slow down and deal much weaker damage over time. Pausing the attack and waiting a bit will allow the Mach Rider to use the attack at its full strength once again.
Side Special[]
Mach Bike: Mach Rider hops onto their signature motorcycle and rides it around the stage much like Wario does with the Wario Bike. Mach Rider has more torque in their engine, allowing them to rumble and drive faster than Wario, as well as make sharper turns without falling over as much. The trade-off is that if the bike goes too fast for too long, it runs the risk of having its engine burn out. As the engine approaches burn out, it will start to glow red and Mach Rider will have to slow down significantly to help ease it. If they don't, the engine will glow faster and hotter and bigger until it eventually explodes, causing significant damage to everyone involved. At this point, the bike breaks apart and its pieces can be used as projectiles, and Mach Rider will not be able to summon it again for 10 seconds.
Up Special[]
Atomize: Mach Rider has the strange ability to atomize at will, commonly breaking apart and reforming whenever a QuadRunner bests them in-game. Here, it becomes a recovery move! Mach Rider breaks apart into a string of atoms and then instantly reappears several feet in whatever direction is chosen. The move deals light damage when Mach Rider breaks apart, but much heavier damage if a foe is caught in the middle of Mach Rider's rematerialization.
Down Special[]
Tail Spin: Mach Rider hops back on the Mach Bike and pops a wheelie before quickly spinning in place. This move kicks up dirt all around that travels further the longer the move is used. It produces a shield of sorts that bats down some projectiles and causes persistent damage to anyone caught in it while also slowing them down. Those hit by the Mach Bike itself run the risk of being grounded and being dealt pretty decent consistent damage, like Donkey Kong's Hand Slap. While the move becomes buffed the longer it is used, the Mach Bike will eventually blow like it does in the Side Special if it's used too long.
Final Smash[]
It Came From 2112: Mach Rider leaps off stage and into the foreground. The player assumes a first-person view from behind the Mach Bike and can unleash various actions onto the stage while in this mode. Pressing any button, they can unleash a barrage of much stronger bullets from the Mach Bike's gatling guns using two corsairs that appear on the screen. The bullets leave a trail of fire in their wake and can immediately pierce shields. While the Final Smash is ongoing, QuadRunners will pelt the stage, driving from one side to the other and causing more of a hubbub. The Final Smash always ends with Mach Rider releasing a Mach Laser from a large gun that peers out from the bike's center, unleashing a devastating, pulsating electric ray that can be slowly moved to and fro until it dissipates. The final flash from the ray defeats all of the QuadRunners instantaneously before Mach Rider returns to the stage.
Extra Skill[]
Gearshift: Ethereal futuristic-looking gears will surround Mach Rider’s body briefly as they shift into the next gear and gain a speed boost. If the Extra Skill input is only pressed then Mach Rider will shift into 2nd Gear however by holding down the input briefly and waiting until you see the gears flash brightly Mach Rider will shift into 3rd Gear. If you continue to hold down the input until the gears flash a second time then Mach Rider will enter 4th Gear.
2nd Gear will give Mach Rider a slight boost to their movement speed for 10 seconds. 3rd Gear will grant a greater speed boost as well as a buff to Mach Rider’s jump height for 5 seconds. 4th Gear will give Mach Rider an immense boost to their movement speed and jump height allowing them a quick getaway however it only lasts for 2 seconds. No matter what gear Mach Rider activates Gearshift will go on cooldown for 20 seconds after the effects expire. Additionally, if Mach Rider went into 3rd Gear then they will take 1.2x damage from all attacks for the next 5 seconds after 3rd Gear ended. If Mach Rider went into 4th Gear then on top of taking additional damage for the next 5 seconds they will also be stunned for 2 seconds and be unable to move until the effects wear off. If Mach Rider is hit by attacks during this stun they will take no knockback but they will be knocked backwards a scaling amount based on how much damage they took during the time that they were stunned.
