Character Info[]
King Bob-omb once gloriously stood upon the highest hill of Bob-omb Battlefield, the middle-man between his lord Bowser and their Bob-omb minions. When Bob-omb Battlefield becomes a raucous warzone between the Bob-ombs and Bob-omb Buddies, however, Mario's attention is grabbed when he leaps through a painting in Princess Peach's Castle that sends him straight there. After the good ol' plumber defeats the king, he holds an explosive grudge that has seen him follow the Mario Brothers through party after party, race after race, and hole after hole on some of the Mushroom Kingdom's coolest golf courses.
General Information[]
Entrance[]
King Bob-omb is carried out by a legion of Bob-ombs, standing up as his crown shines in the light.
Kirby Hat[]
Kirby's face becomes the king's! His eyes widen and blank out into white pupils instead of black ones, and he also dons King Bob-ombs crown and gallant mustache.
Taunts[]
Up Taunt: King Bob-omb places both hands on his hips and laughs in his trademark Super Mario 64 style.
Down Taunt: King Bob-omb stomps down on the ground with one foot, glowing burgundy as steam escapes from both sides of his head.
Side Taunt: A Bob-omb peeks around King Bob-omb's leg, then the other. Both times, the king isn't able to catch view of his minion in time to find out what they were.
Victory Poses[]
- King Bob-omb is held by a troop of Bob-ombs, like in his entrance animation. They make excited noises while tossing the king into the air three times, each higher than the last. They make noises that seem to mimic the common "hip-hip-hooray!" saying. The third toss sees them throw him so high into the air that the camera shifts upwards to see him shift into the sky before coming crash down. Some of the Bob-ombs run away while several others explode underneath him while he gives the camera an aloof look, scratching the back of his head.
- King Bob-omb is surrounded by several Bob-ombs as he points skyward, ordering them to go marching off in a line as he judges their military form.
- Mimicking Mario, a Power Star twirls and dances around King Bob-omb's head as he spins around a grabs it, flashing a peace sign while laughing.
Moveset[]
Standard Special[]
The King's Grasp: King Bob-omb performs his trademark grab from Super Mario 64. Leaning downwards, the king reaches out with his two heavy hands, and grabs a hold of his foe. Unlike one of his standard grabs, King Bob-omb cannot simply pummel his enemies once he has them in his grasp. No, this is a special grab. Move the control stick up and down and, just like Marina Liteyears, King Bob-omb will shake them according to the intensity that you're moving the input! This will gradually damage the opponent by a few percentage points with each shake, but more importantly it will shake them up and confuse them. If King Bob-omb places them back down after a good shaking, chances are they'll have their controls scrambled for up to a good handful of seconds. Of course, King Bob-omb is also able to throw his opponents. No matter which way he throws them, about the same animation will play where he hoists them up into the air with both hands and lobs them in a high upwards arc that will alter somewhat depending on the input selected. If he throws them downward, he will do about the same thing, but then lob them straight into the ground with a chuckle. Either way, this is a harsh move with severe knockback, even if it generally does not offer a whole lot of damage outright. Chuck someone at the right time and you can make easy work of them, even at lower percentages! This move also works on physical projectiles, allowing King Bob-omb to grab and throw most items and weapons like Samus' missiles so long as he activates the move while facing them. King Bob-omb will remain stationary while holding something in his grasp.
Side Special[]
Chuckya Skate: A silver pin about the size of Kirby appears underneath King Bob-omb, landing his bum atop it. The player is able to skate the pin forward or backwards at their leisure, achieving a top-speed about equal to Wario's bike's as King Bob-omb goes spinning towards his opponents like a hockey puck. Those run over by the king during his traversal will be dealt damage that scales depending on how fast he is moving at the time of impact. This move also has a high potential to ground opponents, trapping them and teeing them right back up for King Bob-omb to hit 'em again to get 'em out. Its elements of super armor are kept at a minimum, however, so the king might be easily toppled if he isn't riding at or near top speed.
Up Special[]
Para-Bomb: A blue-and-white pinstriped parachute flooms up over King Bob-omb's shoulders and takes him skyward! It will take him about three quarters as high as Snake's Cypher would before evening him out, letting him gently glide to the ground. His descent can be fairly evenly telegraphed, like Peach's umbrella. As his descent carries on, however, it will become harder to sustain his weight. As time goes on, he will travel faster towards the earth. If used too high in the air, the parachute will eventually break, letting the king fall to his descent with grace as he at least doesn't have to deal with the disrespect of a freefall. The move can also be cancelled out of at any point, allowing King Bob-omb to chain a mid-air attack at any moment. The initial flight upwards also maintains super armor.
Down Special[]
Steelie Strike: A steelie about half the size of King Bob-omb appears right in front of him and he immediately breaks out his golf club, striking it with a confidence that just screams, "Foreeeeee!!! The steelie goes barreling forward at about 70% the speed of a quick-rolling Barrel, deflecting or absorbing most projectiles and causing heavy damage, knockback, and a potential grounding effect to anyone that is hit. To the detriment of the king, the initial animation takes some time to tee up, allowing wise foes to telegraph and evade the move.
Final Smash[]
Self-Destruct: A tick sounds off as King Bob-omb stares towards the camera as if to say "Uh-oh." A moment later, the camera dynamically zooms in on the king as he glows dark red, about to explode. The explosion covers about the entire circumference of Battlefield and wields effects nearly as devastating as Hero's Kamikaze. Foes with 100% or more who are hit by the blast are automatically KO'd. Once the smoke clears, a labored King Bob-omb wipes a bead of sweat from off of his brow before performing his trademark belly laugh and returning to the fight.
Extra Skill[]
Bob-omb: King Bob-omb reaches down and retrieves a Bob-omb! The Bob-omb functions exactly as the item does. King Bob-omb is able to summon three Bob-ombs per stock. Furthermore, at least one of the Bob-ombs that he picks up per stock will already have ignited itself, meaning that it will explode in his hands if he doesn't throw it off in time.
