Stage Info[]

The Great Bay is a coastal region of Termina and is home to both the Zora and the Gerudo. When Link first arrives at the Great Bay he learns that the bay’s waters have become murky and far too warm which is wreaking havoc on the bay’s ecosystem. Link has to learn the New Wave Bossa Nova song to awaken the giant turtle and sail to the Great Bay Temple in order to defeat Gyorg and restore the Great Bay’s water.

Stage Layout[]

Great Bay consists of two main platforms on the left and right with two smaller platforms associated with them. The right side of the stage is taken up by a giant turtle for fighters to battle on including its head, neck, and shell. Fighters can also battle on two tall trees that are on the turtle's back with the right tree a little higher up in the air than the left tree. The grass that’s found on the turtle’s shell has a higher amount of traction on it than the rest of the turtle.

The left side of the stage has one medium-sized platform which houses the Marine Research Laboratory on it in the background and two smaller platforms below that. The platform on the right overlaps a little below the main platform while the platform on the left is even smaller and is just a rock floating in the water. This rock will react to the weight of the fighters who are on top of it as it rocks from side to side.

As an aesthetic effect, the Moon in the background will slowly get closer to the stage as it threatens the people of Termina. When the Moon gets close to the ground, the Four Giants will rise up in the background to catch the Moon and throw it back up into the sky. This background cinematic takes roughly 3 minutes to play out and has no effect on the actual match.

Hazards[]

Turtle[]

Roughly every 30 seconds after the start of the match, the turtle on the right of Great Bay will dive underwater and take anything that was on top of it with it. While this no longer immediately KO’s any fighters that were on top of the turtle like in Melee due to the ability to swim, fighters should still try to abandon ship before it gets to that point. After roughly another 30 seconds have passed the turtle will rise back up out of the water. This cycle will continue for every 30 seconds.

Tingle[]

Tingle will be flying above the right side of the laboratory platform as he hangs from his red balloon. Tingle’s balloon can be used as a small platform for fighting on, however it is very fragile. If a fighter stands on the balloon for too long, or if it takes any damage, the balloon will pop causing Tingle to flail his arms in the air before falling down onto the platform below. If a fighter touches Tingle during his flailing they will take 1-2% damage and minimal knockback.
