Stage Info[]
Garreg Mach Monastery serves as the headquarters for both the church of Seiros and the Officers Academy. It is considered neutral ground on the continent of Fodlan and sits in the middle of all three nations. The monastery is rather massive with plenty of room for its own cathedral, marketplace, and classrooms for the Officers Academy. After a chance encounter with the Knights of Seiros, Byleth was brought here and made a professor at the Officers Academy while his father reclaimed his former position as captain of the Knights of Seiros.
Stage Design[]
Stage Layout[]
Garreg Mach Monastery is a traveling stage that focuses on four different areas of the monastery. When the stage is getting ready to transition from one area to the next a magical blue platform will rise out of the ground and carry the fighters through the air for a nice panoramic view of the monastery before settling down at its next destination. The starting location, and where the stage will transition to next, are determined at random.
Each location also has several cameos which can appear in the background watching the fight. The cameos are specific to each location and are primarily themed around a particular group of characters with the Marketplace featuring mostly characters from the Blue Lions house, the Reception Hall having the Black Eagles, the Bridge having the Golden Deer, and the Cathedral having members of the Church of Seiros. 3-5 of the possible cameos will appear in the background for each location with the only guaranteed cameos being the leaders of each house (Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude) as well as Archbishop Rhea. Beyond that the cameos chosen are randomized, but any character who is fighting on the stage, involved in a Spirit Battle, or about to be summoned by an Assist Trophy will not appear in the background.
The locations and their details are as follows:
- Marketplace - The marketplace has two stalls full of inventory to the far left and right of the stage. These serve both as obstacles and as platforms that can be fought on top of. Possible cameos for the Marketplace include; Anna, Annette, Ashe, Dedue, Dimitri, Felix, Gatekeeper, Ingrid, Mercedes, Sylvain, Yuri, and both genders of Byleth and Shez.
- Reception Hall - The reception hall has two chandeliers hanging high above the stage which can be used as platforms. The tables in the background can be destroyed if a strong attack lands in front of them, though this is purely a background element. Possible cameos for the Reception Hall include; Bernadetta, Caspar, Constance, Dorothea, Edelgard, Ferdinand, Hubert, Jeritza, Linhardt, Monica, Petra, and both genders of Byleth and Shez.
- Bridge - The bridge has no additional platforms and is just a flat grounded area. Possible cameos for the Bridge include Balthus, Claude, Hilda, Ignatz, Jeralt, Leonie, Lorenz, Lysithea, Marianne, Raphael, Tomas, and both genders of Byleth and Shez.
- Cathedral - The cathedral has two soft platforms off to the left and right which can be fought on. When the stage is getting ready to transition away from the cathedral these two platforms will fly away off screen. Possible cameos for the Cathedral include Alois, Catherine, Cyril, Flayn, Gilbert, Hanneman, Hapi, Manuela, Rhea, Seteth, Shamir, and both genders of Byleth and Shez.
Hazards[]
Destructible Environment[]
Garreg Mach Monastery’s Marketplace and Reception Hall have some destructible pieces of their environment which can alter the layout of the stage. The details are as follows:
- Marketplace - The two marketplace stalls can be destroyed if they take enough damage. Destroying a stall will reduce it to rubble and open the blast zones up that were previously blocked by them.
- Reception Hall - The hanging chandeliers can be attacked and destroyed. When this occurs the destroyed chandelier will fall down and damage any fight in its path, similar to what happens when the light fixture on Boxing Ring is attacked and destroyed.
