Boss Info[]

Engels is a massive Goliath-class machine lifeform which is able to disguise itself as a large building. Engels take a massive amount of energy to power them which has the side effect of them needing to emit steam in order to keep themselves cool. They generate so much heat in fact that their arms have been known to catch fire. 2B and 9S ran afoul of an Engels unit at the Abandoned Factory and were only able to destroy it by detonating their black boxes.

Boss Fight Details[]

Engels appears back behind the stage and takes up nearly the entire background. While his whole body can be attacked, he only takes 0.7% damage from attacks. The main exception to this is his head which serves as a weak spot taking 1.3x damage from attacks. Additionally, some of Engels’ attacks involve him using his massive saw blade arms to attack the stage. When Engels’ arms are on the stage itself they will take 1.3x damage as well.

Attacks[]

Smash:[]

With a long obvious windup, Engels will swing either of its two arms from the background and slam it hard onto the stage. This attack will deal heavy damage to a fighter who wasn’t able to get out of the in time and that damage will be increased if they were hit while on the ground instead of in the air. After this attack Engels’ arm will remain on the stage for a few seconds so that fighters can attack it. When Engels is on low health, or just on higher difficulties, Engels will slam both arms onto the stage one after the other.

Clap:[]

With a long obvious windup, Engels will swing both of its arms outward before clapping them towards the stage. Both arms will clap together at the same time and meet in the middle of the stage dealing a high amount of damage to the fighter. If a fighter was caught in the middle they will take extra damage as opposed to if they were hit by just one of the arms. The two arms will remain on the stage for a short time making them vulnerable to attack, if you survived the hit and can make it back to the stage quick enough that is.

Vertical Slash:[]

With much less of a tell, Engels will swiftly swing one of its arms down from the background and go straight through the stage. This attack is weaker than Smash and the arm does not hang around on the stage afterward. Like with Smash, Engels may swing both arms one after the other when Engels is low on health or on higher difficulties.

Horizontal Sweep:[]

With much less of a tell, Engels will swiftly swing one of its arms horizontally across the screen. This attack is about on par with Vertical in terms of damage. Like with Vertical Slash, Engels may swing both arms one after the other from opposite directions when Engels is low on health or on higher difficulties.

Motorized Spin:[]

Engels will begin to turn its body around in the background as it raises its arms horizontally. Engels will then rapidly spin around as it swings both of its arms at intense speeds into the foreground of the battle. The arms will swing out onto the stage multiple times for weaker hits as they aim at different angles on the stages in a haphazard fashion.

Rockets:[]

A volley of rockets will fire off from Engels’ back and launch themselves up over the screen. After a couple seconds have passed the rockets will fall down onto the stage, one after the other, and explode in small aoes. Each rocket deals a medium amount of damage and the knockback from them can easily cause a fighter to get juggled from one explosion to another.

Main Beam:[]

Engels’ face will break apart and open up as red energy begins to pool in front of the opening that was hidden away. After a few moments of this, a massive red laser will fire out from Engels and aim right for the fighter. This attack can be dodge, and you probably should, as being hit by the laser will trap the fighter in it as Engels deals constant hits of damage to them. When the laser ends it will hit for one final attack which knocks the fighter away. If the laser misses, the fighter has free reign to attack Engels as the laser will stay in place and not move to try and hit them again. Just be sure you stay away from the laser.

Diffuse Laser:[]

This attack has a similar start to Main Beam however instead of firing one massive laser, Engels will instead fire a multitude of lasers which split apart fire straight for the stage. These lasers will come at the stage in up to five waves depending on the difficulty and will be spread out over the stage. The knockback and damage each laser deals is minimal, but damage can easily wrack up with the number of lasers there are.
