Edelgard von Hresvelgr is the princess and, later, empress of the Adrestian Empire. In the Officers Academy, Edelgard leads the Black Eagles, who together eventually pit themselves against Dimitri, Claude, and Rhea in an attempt to dismount the Church of Seiros. She works by underhanded means to achieve this, notoriously working with Those Who Slither in the Dark to advance towards her goal of dismantling the present power structure. She is primarily an axe user and wields the legendary poleaxe, Aymr.

Edelgard (War)
Edelgard first appears on stage in her Officers Academy uniform. In this form, she will move about the stage almost as a legitimate playable character would, fluidly walking, running, and jumping in response to other players' actions. She has an iron axe and hand axe in her inventory and will use both to rack up combos, throwing her hand axe to get foes from a distance while the iron axe is used for more up-close fighting techniques. Before she's ready to leave, Edelgard will be surrounded in a shining magic energy, moments later class-changing into her Empress form. In her war outfit, she will wield Aymr, crushing it down onto opponents' unlucky heads with the "Raging Storm" Combat Art just once with formidable aplomb. This opens the earth with searing flames and rubble that are also capable of damaging opponents. Watch out, or you may just go flying! Of course, you can also sending Edelgard flying; it's a symbiotic relationship.
