Stage Info[]

Dream Land is a country on the Planet Popstar and serves as the main setting of the Kirby series. Dream Land is ordinarily a peaceful land full of carefree citizens. Dream Land’s peace can be a very tenuous thing however. Not only is the lazy King Dedede the ruler of Dream Land, but it’s been attacked by evildoers on more than one occasion. Good thing Kirby is always around to save the day!

Stage Design[]

Stage Layout[]

This stage is designed off of the original Kirby’s Dream Land game and actually takes place inside of an original gameboy complete with green background. If a player holds down the L button when selecting this stage then instead of having a green background the stage will use a black and white palette to mimic future Game Boy models. If the battle is on a timer during the last five seconds of the match the stage’s background will begin to dim as if the Game Boy’s batteries were running out.

This stage will always start with the boot up screen from the original Game Boy as the Nintendo logo scrolls by before the screen quickly transitions to one of seven different phases. As the match progresses the screen will transition from one phase to another featuring different locales from the original Kirby’s Dream Land. A few of these layouts have a short scrolling section that they go through before they can transition into another phase. The starting phase that the stage becomes after the initial boot up is determined at random.

Green Greens - This phase begins in a flat area with a little door in the middle marked in however this is only a background element. After a short time a hand will appear and point off to the right as the screen begins to scroll in that direction. As the screen scrolls it will pass over a pit in the ground and stop over at a cliff.

Castle Lololo (exterior) - This phase takes place outside of Castle Lololo and features a long platform extending from the right side of the screen and a much smaller platformer up and extending from the left side of the screen. Above the right platform are three small platforms with the top most being the widest of the three.

Castle Lololo (interior) - This phase takes place inside of Castle Lololo with a solid platform along the bottom of the stage complete with walkoffs to each side. Above the floor is a trio of platforms set up in a similar fashion to Battlefield. However these platforms are longer comparatively and the left and right platforms come off from the side of the screen with walkoffs. Each of these are solid platforms so they cannot be passed through.

Float Islands - This phase begins with an island platform on the left and a ship platform on the right. Both platforms can be walked off from to either side. Though there is water at the bottom of the screen and characters will make a splash when they fall into it, it’s not the kind of water that characters can swim in so they’ll fall straight down through it. After a short time a hand will appear and point off to the right as the screen begins to scroll in that direction. As the screen scrolls it will pass over the ship and halt so that now the ship is on the left while two small islands with platforms are on the right.

Bubbly Clouds - This phase begins with four cloud platforms with 2 on either side of the screen. Three of these platforms have walkoffs as they jet out front he side of the screen while the top right platform is purely in midair and is considerably smaller than each of the other three platforms. After a short time a hand will appear and point off to the right as the screen begins to scroll in that direction. When the scroll stops three new cloud-like platforms will be available to fight on.

Mt. Dedede (lobby) - This phase is designed off of the Boss Rush lobby in Mt. Dedeede. One grounded platform stretches out from left right with walkoffs while there are two smaller platforms jutting out from the left and right with an empty space equal in size to the platforms in the middle. These platforms are solid and cannot be passed through.

Mt. Dedede (boxing ring) - This phase is designed off of King Dedede’s boxing ring and features only a single grounded platform with walkoffs.
