Character Info[]
Better known as the Mandalorian or "Mando", Din Djarin is a human Mandalorian warrior who fought during the New Repuiblic era. The enigmatic Djarin is a strict follower of the Children of the Watch, though breaks his vow to never show his face to a living being when promising fatherhood to the Jedi Foundling, Grogu. He hailed from Aq Vetina before the Armorer found him and took him in, raising him as Mandalorian. Djarin is a high-ranking member of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, but finds himself serving a higher purpose now that his life has been entwined with the likes of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Luke Skywalker.
General Information[]
Entrance[]
Din Djarin hops out of his N-1 Starfighter, alongside his pal Grogu, who walks into the background and remains there for most of the fight like Pokemon Trainer.
Kirby Hat[]
Kirby wears Din's whole Beskar helmet! As a special treat for Kirby, the helmet deflects minor projectiles like Fox McCloud's Blaster.
Taunts[]
Up Taunt: Din lifts his Amban phase-pulse blaster from off of his back and taps it towards the ground. As he does so, he says, "I can bring you in warm... or I can bring you in cold."
Down Taunt: Din unsheathes the Darksaber, gazing at it in all of its glory before placing it back into its sheath. Grogu's eyes grow wide and he falls onto his butt while its dark glow lights his face.
Side Taunt: Din grips his vibroblade and lets it rip, observing it while he states, "I'm a Mandalorian," or "Weapons are my religion."
Victory Poses[]
- Grogu walks beside Din as he turns his back towards the camera, walking towards the sunset.
- Din kneels down beside Grogu and offers him a steel ball, which the foundling plays with by spinning around in circles around the two of them.
- Din slings his phase-pulse blaster back over himself. As he fastens it, he says, "This is the way." Grogu looks towards the Mandalorian in spectacle and wonder.
Moveset[]
Standard Special[]
Amban Phase-Pulse Blaster: Din lifts his Amban phase-pulse blaster from off of his back, and hoists it forward. If an opponent is directly beside him, the blaster will unleash a powerful electric blast, stunning them. If they are not, Din will use the blaster to shoot out a concentrated ripple of energy upwards of four Kirbys forward. It's a slow-moving beam, but those that it hits will be dealt hefty electrical damage and heavy knockback. The projectile can only be used once every few seconds, with Din having to recalibrate the blaster after each use.
Side Special[]
Vambrace Flamethrower: Din lifts his arm up and presses a button on his vambrace, unleashing a formidable flamethrower upon his foes. At full strength, it travels about three Kirbys in length and can be angled anywhere within a 360-degree arc. Gradually, the flamethrower's power will weaken, and it can also be doused out entirely by a well-timed water, wind, or ice-based attack. For the most part, though, it's a piece of work, coming in at a more concentrated blast than Bowser or Charizard's while lasting a little longer than either's. A quicker tilt of the side special inputs will see Din unleash an alternate version of the attack, sending a quick ball of fire hurling forward. It will deal light damage to opponents along with making them flinch, and can last much longer in succession than the flamethrower option. Din will have to wait a few seconds before using this attack again once its gas runs out.
Up Special[]
Jetpack: Using his Mandalorian Jetpack, Din lifts high off into the air. He can be guided in any direction while using the jetpack, much like with Pit's Brawl up special. Building momentum with the jetpack will allow Din to crash into opponents, dishing out some decent damage. He is capable of using some standard aerial attacks while in mid-air, while pressing the special button again would see him use his standard blaster, shooting a common energy blast forward that deals about the same effects and damage as Zero Suit Samus' Paralyzer. Din is capable of canceling out of the jetpack's flight at any time by pressing either of the shield buttons.
Down Special[]
Whistling Birds: Din lifts his vambrace forward, pressing a button that unleashes three miniature explosive darts. These darts immediately go whirring towards the nearest opponents. In a match where Din is facing three or more opponents, the darts will usually target the three nearest opponents, with some exception. If an opponent is too far away from the Whistling Birds, they will hone-in only on opponents nearby. This means that if only one opponent is within proximity, all three darts will hone-in on them! Talk about an explosion. Given, the darts explode upon impact, dishing out about 2/3 as much damage and impact as a Bob-omb would. The move has some cooldown, with Din having to wait 3 seconds between using any additional Whistling Birds. They're quick-moving and powerful, though they can also be deflected back in Din's direction if smacked at just the right moment with enough strength.
Final Smash[]
N-1 Starfighter: Din leaps back into the N-1 Starfighter, and so does Grogu. The two leap off-screen and a reticle appears over the stage in sheer Star Wars vintage. Lining up the reticle with where Din would like to shoot, he will unleash a rapid spray of ammo from the N-1's gatling guns. They don't deal a ton of damage or knockback individually, but they do add up fast, and Din is capable of spraying them across a stage without much repercussion. There is a set amount of ammo—though there is plenty of it—so, naturally, the quicker Din uses it, the quicker he and Grogu will return to the field. Concentrating a blast on a renegade opponent is a near-surefire way to knock 'em out.
Extra Skill[]
Grogu: Din is capable of calling Grogu to the field for a set amount of time. The foundling will appear in his floating carriage from The Mandalorian trailing just behind Din at all times. If Din jumps, Grogu leaps up with him; if Din falls, Grogu follows suit. If Grogu's carriage is attacked, the baby will make begrudged noises as it shuts closed, protecting him. As Grogu follows Din, he will continually use the force to enhance Din's movements. His stamina, attack, and defense are all slightly increased so long as Grogu is at play. If an opponent attacks Din within a certain proximity, Grogu will hone the Force in on this opponent, crunching them into place and forcing them to fall to the floor as with Ryu's Focus Attack. Occasionally, the fighter affected by the Force will stand back up only to fall asleep for a small amount of additional time! Additionally, Grogu may use the Force to protect Din from a certain amount of projectile attacks, thresholding at about 25% damage. Once Grogu uses enough of the Force, he too will fall asleep and fade back into the background. Grogu will sleep for 15 seconds before Din is able to call on him again. When he calls Grogu, he'll say, "Hey kid!" or "Grogu, I could use your help."
Unique Traits[]
With his Beskar armor, Din has passive Tough Body armor, much like Bowser or Kazuya. This means that the amount of hitstun and knockback that must be dealt to the Mandalorian is slightly higher than most characters before his super armor is broken. Until Tough Body is broken, Din will passively deflect most projectiles sent his way. Employing his jetpack, Din also has a third jump. Additionally, Din uses his grappling line as a grab that can also be used as a tether. Finally, whenever Din uses his shield, it's actually Grogu using the Force to protect him, as can be observed from his spot in the background or foreground.
