Stage Info[]
Corneria is the primary planet in the Lylat System and accounts for 85% of the sentient population in the entire system. While it features a strong military presence and advanced cities, Corneria has also fostered a strong relationship with nature which has allowed the planet and its inhabitants to flourish. While the planet does have its own military, the Cornerian Army was caught off guard when Andross attacked as the planet had never been the site of an attack before. Thankfully General Pepper knew of an elite team that could help to fend off the invading army and recruited Fox McCloud and his team to save the day.
Stage Layout[]
This stage has fighters battling it out on top of team Star Fox’s flagship, the Great Fox, as it flies through the skies of Corneria. Fighters can run around and fight on top of the entire length of the ship from the cockpit at the front, over the fin, and on the thrusters at the back. Fighters can even get on top of the laser cannons located below the cockpit however it's difficult to get back up to the main stage from there so it's not recommended to try and hang out there.
While this stage does not have any scrolling or wind mechanics as far as the fighters are concerned, items which sit on top of the Great Fox will be slowly pulled to the right as the Great Fox flies through the air.
If you are playing as Fox or Falco on this stage you can perform a special Smash Taunt by quickly tapping the down taunt input. If successful, then Fox/Falco will kneel onto the stage and shake their fist. This will cause a randomly chosen conversation between the Star Fox cast to occur with the conversations being different depending on if it was Fox or Falco that initiated the taunt. Each fighter can only activate one of these special taunts once per match.
Hazards[]
Arwings: Occasionally an Arwing will fly in from the right side of the screen and fly above the Great Fox. These Arwings will serve as temporary platforms for fighters to use however after a while they will pick up speed and fly away towards the left side of the screen. Any fighters that stay on top of an Arwing will be carried off with them towards the blast zone and KO’d. Additionally, Arwings may occasionally fire lasers straight forward which deal a small amount of electric damage.
Wolfens: As the fight goes on Wolfens may make attacks against the Great Fox by flying in from the right side and firing lasers at an angle down towards the Great Fox. These lasers are roughly equal in strength to the lasers fired by the Arwing hazard. Wolfens however do not stick around to be used as additional platforms and are just here to harass the Great Fox and by extension the fighters.
Laser Cannon: Remember the laser cannons at the front of the Great Fox? Well it turns out there is more than one reason why it's not smart to try and hide out on them. It’s rare, but there may be times during the fight when the laser cannons will start to charge up energy before eventually firing a strong laser shot out of them. Fighters that are hit by the lasers themselves (or are standing on the laser cannon when it fires) will take damage and most likely be KO’d from the amount of knockback that the laser cannons generate.
