Assist Trophy Info[]
A CL4P-TP general purpose robot manufactured by Hyperion. More commonly known as “Claptrap” this little bot was programmed to have quite the overenthusiastic (and rather annoying) personality. Though Claptrap once had a full range of combat programming installed in him, he’s since been restored to his original function after being left for dead by Handsome Jack. Now the last of his product line, Claptrap finds its way to Sanctuary after encountering a new group of Vault Hunters who helped to save him from Captain Flynt. When the Vault Hunters need access to Hero’s Pass Claptrap hacks the door open to let them in. Though Claptrap initially intended to join the Vault Hunters through Hero’s Pass, he was confronted by his arch-nemesis: a giant staircase. With no way for him to climb the staircase Claptrap stayed behind weeping.
Mode of Assistance[]
When Claptrap arrives he’ll do a quick spin and place and activate his VaultHunter.EXE program causing one of several different wacky effects. As Claptrap’s various effects are going off you’ll hear him being his annoying self as he goes through some of his voice lines from the Borderlands games.
- Clap-In-The-Box - Claptrap will pull out a bomb larger than himself. The bomb’s wick will burn down over the next five seconds before the bomb explodes covering a large portion of the screen and dealing a heavy amount of damage to anyone in its range, including Claptrap’s summoner!
- Pirate Ship Mode - Claptrap will be seen wearing a pirate hat while his lower body seems to be wearing a miniature pirate ship. This ship will have four large cannons jutting out of it. Each side of the ship has two cannons on it with one cannon on each side pointing 50 degrees up into the air as well as another pair of cannons pointed only 25 degrees up into the air. Shortly after Claptrap is all set in his pirate ship the cannons will begin alternating fire as Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture begins to play in the background. 12 cannonballs will be fired in total all flying in an arc that explode on contact. The whole attack lasts for about 35 seconds as destruction is rained down on the stage.
- Meat Unicycle - For this effect Claptrap will wear a Psycho’s mask and wield a Buzz Saw weapon based off of Krieg’s as Claptrap runs around the stage for the next 15 seconds trying to be a melee menace by chasing down other fighters and slashing them with the Buzz Saw.
- Funzerker - A mohawk will suddenly be on Claptrap’s head as he pulls out two submachine guns and begins firing them off to his left and right as if he were Salvador. Claptrap will fan out the attack by raising the guns up and down spreading out his gunfire. The bullets shoot through rapidly and without stop. Each one deals a tiny amount of damage, but since Claptrap is firing a high amount of bullets in a short time the damage can rack up.
- Medbot - In this mode Claptrap will be holding what looks like a large syringe before wildly firing a wide red laser out of it. Claptrap can fire this laser all around him and it pierces through all parts of the stage. The nice thing is that this laser doesn’t actually hurt anyone, it actually heals and you can be healed for each second you spend in the laser’s path. Unfortunately Claptrap’s healing abilities don’t just benefit the player that summoned him. Any fighter that is caught in Claptrap’s healing laser will receive it’s healing effects.
