Butterfree is a dual-type Bug/Flying Pokemon who resembles a giant anthropomorphic butterfly. It is prominent in the Kanto region and is among the first Pokemon that both Red and Ash run into in the games and anime, respectively. Butterfree's wings are coated with poisonous scales that fall off as it flies around. In the wild, Butterfree uses these spores to protect Caterpie from Pidgey and other bird Pokemon.
Attack Description[]
Butterfree gently flies over the stage. As it does so, it spreads its spores from its copiously coated wings. The spores will gradually drop towards the ground. Anyone that it touches will be slowed down and eventually stunned into space. The amount of spores that they're exposed to will effect the length and severity of the process. Touch a minute amount, and surely you will only experience a brief slow down and stun. Run through a field's worth of them, and you'll experience severe sloth before being stunned into place for multiple seconds. If a fighter is stunned in mid-air, they will freefall. And, here's a real kicker—most other KO'able Pokemon and Assist Trophies can be affected in the same way as playable characters!
