Enemy Info[]
Bucculus are rather strange enemies who bury themselves in the ground and wait for their prey to approach them. With just their lips breaching the surface of the ground, Bucculus can detect the footsteps of nearby foes and if someone happens to run over their lips… the Bucculus will leap out of the ground and attach itself to its victim to drain the life out of them.
Fight Pattern[]
Bucculus hide themselves in the ground with the only hint of their existence being their large red lips lying flat on the ground. If a fighter approaches the Bucculus will pop out of the ground and attempt to attach its lips to the fighter. Bucculus can be jumped over, in fact this is the recommended strat. If a Bucculus misses its grabbing attack it will bounce around for a couple seconds before burying itself back into the ground to try again. If a Bucculus’ poison sac has been filled up there is a good chance it will drop a Food item or Maxim Tomato upon defeat.
Attacks[]
Kiss[]
If a Bucculus manages to hit an opponent with their lips they will “kiss” them repeatedly to attack and drain their health. This can grant additional health to a Bucculus, even if they haven’t taken any damage yet, making them rather dangerous. Fighters can break out of the Bucculus’ attack by waggling the control stick and will also be let go after the Bucculus makes three “kiss” attacks against them. Following this, the Bucculus will break away and deal an additional small hit of damage, bounce around a bit, and try to bury itself back into the stage where it hopes for the fighter to be a fool once again. If the Bucculus is able to latch onto a fighter and damage them with this attack, its poison sac will get larger as its filled with the fighter’s vitality.
