Stage Info[]
This boxing ring has seen its share of fights over the years and in that time it’s seen the rise and fall of many talented boxers. One such notable boxer is Little Mac, a fighter who many disregarded and thought would just go the way of Glass Joe. But it was here at this boxing ring where history was made, not just once but several times over as Little Mac would stand next to champions like King Hippo, Mr. Sandman, Nick Bruiser, Donkey Kong, and even the legendary Mike Tyson himself before knocking them down onto the mat and being declared the victor.
Stage Layout[]
The central part of the stage is filled with the boxing ring itself and is surrounded by ropes on the left and right sides. These ropes serve as barriers separating the outside of the ring from the inside, but they are short so jumping over them is no problem. The ropes are also springy and when jumped on will boost the height of the character’s jump allowing them to reach higher heights than they can normally.
Beyond each side of ropes is a long slanted walkway going up which would normally be used by boxing opponents as they walk towards the ring before a fight. These walkways lead to walk offs on each end of the stage. Above the main boxing ring is a light fixture which can also be fought on top of, but be careful as it can come crashing down as well.
This stage has two different designs which are randomly chosen when the match begins. The differences are purely aesthetic with one design being based on the actual W.V.B.A. Boxing Ring from Punch-Out!! (Wii) while the other design is based on the Smash Bros series itself.
Hazards[]
Light Fixture[]
As mentioned in the Layout of the Stage, the light fixture that can be used as a platform is a hazard as well. This light fixture can be attacked and has a health value of 125%. When this health value is reached the lights on the fixture will turn off as the lights fall down and crash on top of the boxing ring. The light fixture is slightly shorter than the actual boxing ring allowing fighters who hug the ropes to escape unharmed. Fighters who were in the light fixture’s way when it came crashing down whoever will take damage. The light fixture can also be damaged just by jumping on top of it. In this case, the damage dealt to the light fixture will be the fighter’s weight value divided by 10. After some time, the light fixture will return and can be used as a platform again.
Other Notes[]
This stage also features a large jumbotron in the background. This jumbotron is similar to the ones in the backgrounds of the Pokemon Stadium stages which can display video of the match for the NPCs in the in stands as well as provide some stats about the match including how many kills each fighter has gotten. At times, the jumbotron will even highlight two of the fighters in the match with a large graphic of them on the display and a nickname or title for them as a theoretical title for what their stage name could be if they were actually in a real boxing match.
