Stage Info[]

This Boxing Gym owned by Doc Louis was once a place where many great boxers would gather to hone up their skills and train their bodies. Nowadays the gym barely has anyone stopping by outside of Doc Louis and Little Mac. The gym is stocked with pretty much what you’d expect with various weights and other equipment used for exercise and strength training. There’s even an old bike stashed in the corner which Doc Louis has fond memories of where he’d ride the bike through the city and make his trainee chase him down.

Stage Layout[]

The Boxing Gym is a flat grounded stage with minimal frills to it. When the battle starts out there will be nothing else on the actual stage itself, but the background is filled with various training equipment to look at. Doc Louis and Little Mac can sometimes be seen training in the background if they aren’t part of the fight. Two platforms may at times appear on the left and right side of the stage as they float up from the ground to serve as temporary soft platforms to fight on and are designed to look like they are made from the same material as a punching bag. These platforms don’t stick around forever though and after a time they will sink back into the floor until the stage decides its time to bring them back.

This stage does come with a transformation to it which is signaled by either Doc Louis, Little Mac, or some other random Punch-Out character walking out to the front door and stepping outside of the gym. As this is happening if the platforms or the Punching Bag hazard are currently on the field they will disappear before the screen transitions and the fight is brought outside of the gym. Here the fighters will see a Punch-Out character sitting on top of a bicycle. As the character starts to peddle forwards and ride the bike the screen will begin to scroll from right to left and keep the biker in the center of the screen. There will be the occasional obstacle such as a fire hydrant or street lamp for fighters to be aware of, but these aren’t too oppressive. This biking segment will last for about 45-75 seconds before the biker pulls up in front of the Boxing Gym again. The biker will wipe some sweat off their forehead and lean the bike against the outside of the Gym before heading inside. At that point the fight will transition back to being inside of the Boxing Gym.

There are three different speeds that the scroll can take and it's kept consistent the entire time. This speed is determined by what character from Punch-Out is riding on the bike. The speeds and characters are:

Hazards[]

Punching Bag[]

When the extra platforms aren’t in play you might just see a pink punching back lower itself down from above. The Punching bag will hover roughly half a character height above the stage and be suspended by rope. If this punching bag is attacked it will sway back and forth with the sway becoming more pronounced as the punching bag takes more damage. The Punching bag can end up swinging on a pretty good arc and if it smacks into an opponent hard enough they’ll take damage and be knocked backwards with the amount scaling depending on how hard the punching bag is swinging. On occasion the punching bag may even drop some items similarly to the Sandbag item.
