Bow is Ryu's best friend in the seminal Breath of Fire II. True to his name, he is an adept archer who particularly excels with usage of the crossbow. Besides, the Grassrunner is a world traveler, handyman, hunter, and lover of fish cakes. He's a humanoid dog, as you can see... which might explain his Japanese name, "Bosch Doggy".

Mode of Assistance

As soon as Bow arrives on the stage, he excitedly shouts, "Let's get hunting!" or "The adventure begins!" Then, he locks and loads his crossbow, shooting a bolt in the direction of his nearest opponents. It is a fairly thick piece of ammo and travels in a half-circular arc before falling to the ground. Bolts that don't make their mark can be picked up and thrown by anyone. He will shoot anywhere between three to five bolts first, then engage in his final one. When wrapping up his visit, Bow will announce that he is about to "shoot his Shot", inferring that he will be using his special critical hit technique. It has a 1/100 chance of landing on a target, but if this fast-moving, hard-hitting bolt does? It'll rack up 100% damage on the opponent with heavy knockback, striking a death knell in nearly any situation. If it makes its mark, Bow will hardly be able to believe it, remarking on his tail-a-waggin' before he disappears. If it doesn't, he'll say, "Aw! Bummer!" before he walks away.
