Super Mario 64 introduces the concept of the Bob-omb Buddy. Unlike their cousins, these pink pals are friends to Mario and company. They assist each other in the battle against King Bob-omb, and then these lil' guys appear sporadically throughout the Mario series and its spinoffs since! What buddies.
Mode of Assistance[]
A Bob-omb Buddy appears, marching in place for a moment while making its trademark when-spoken-to utterance from SM64. Suddenly, it teleports from the foreground into the background, where a cannon is waiting for it. Spheres of water about the size of King Bob-omb himself are lobbed from the cannon. It positions itself in a new direction after each shot—of which there are three. The water balls will violently bounce around the stage a few times before evaporating or hitting their mark, dishing out significant damage and knockback upon contact. Given their element, they are also very capable in dousing fire-based effects and attacks.
