Stage Info[]
When Mario leaps through a magic painting in Princess Peach's Castle for the first time, it brings him to Bob-omb Battlefield! Here, players meet several flagship characters, including King Bob-omb, Bob-omb Buddies, and Koopa the Quick... all amidst the goings-on of an actual battle between King Bob-ombs' forces and the venerable Buddies! Mario is tasked with climbing the twisty-turny mountain that King Bob-omb perches himself upon to defeat him, ending the war—until the next star, that is!
Stage Layout[]
It's a diorama-like take on Bob-omb Battlefield! The fight begins at an initial stretch of land that is roughly the size of Battlefield. Towards it far-left is a raised stone platform with a hole at its center, a Bob-omb Buddy eagerly marching in place beside it. Step in, and you'll be taken into their cannon and shot out! Walk right from this cannon and you will be taken up a long, diagonal wooden platform up onto a raised, grounded area that features yet another cannon, though this one will shoot you in the opposite direction. A shot from this cannon is a surefire way to be taken to the floating island in the sky, featuring a sole tree that can be climbed or knocked down before regenerating after a short time. Fall from this area and you'll be taken to floating metal platform a few feet below the island and few feet above the first cannon. It travels in a slight circular pattern and can be easily passed through.
In the background, King Bob-omb's noteworthy mountainside locale can be seen, with a large iron ball traveling down its many tiers. Also viewable from the background is a Chain Chomp guarding a star, several Bob-ombs and Bob-omb Buddies, and water bombs being shot between the opposing parties. Eagle-eyed players might even spot Koopa the Quick deftly avoiding King Bob-omb's balls as he runs up and down the hill
Stage Hazards[]
Cannon[]
Leap into one of the Bob-omb Buddies' cannons and take off! Once you're shot out from them, these operate just as other cannons in Smash do, despite the initial differences in operation and aesthetic. This means that, although the shot itself won't dish any damage, the fighters become their own projectiles and can cause some decent damage and knockback to anyone that they ram into. Rarely if ever would a cannon run the hazard of shooting someone off stage, though; these are more stage accessories.
