Item Info[]
First encountered in the dream world of Subcon, Bob-ombs are living bombs. While Bob-ombs are capable of living out completely normal lives with some even being employed as assistants to doctors, Bob-ombs are most used to protect facilities from the Mario Bros. Bob-ombs can be fairly effective at this as when they spot one of the bros they’ll begin to flash red as their fuse begins to burn down until they explode. Unfortunately for the Bob-omb, while they might take Mario down with them, the explosion usually results in the Bob-ombs death.
Item Usage[]
As an item, Bob-ombs will initially spawn on the stage in an inactive state and can be picked up and thrown. Once thrown, the Bob-omb will explode on contact with anything dealing a strong amount of damage to anything nearby. Be careful though as in this instance “anything nearby” includes the player that threw the Bob-omb! Throwing a Bob-omb straight down can be especially effective as it can meteor smash opponents that it hits from above. It’s also possible to blow up a Bob-omb while it’s still sitting on the ground by just hitting it with a hard enough attack! Holding onto a Bob-omb too long can be just as dangerous. If the Bob-omb hasn’t been thrown after enough time it will begin to flash red and will explode in its holder's hands if they don’t throw it quickly! If a Bob-omb is not picked up after a few seconds, it will begin to walk around on its own going back and forth on whichever platform it spawned on. In this state, the Bob-omb will explode on any player it makes contact with and if it goes much longer without hitting anyone it will stop moving where it’s at, begin to flash red, and explode on its own. Truly, Bob-ombs are not long for the world of Smash.
Bob-ombs can also appear when a match ends in a tie resulting in Sudden Death. If Sudden Death lasts more than a few seconds, Bob-ombs will start to rain down from above onto the stage exploding on contact with anything. Watch out!
