Item Info[]
Birthdays are a long-standing tradition that, as their name suggests, celebrate the day upon which an individual was born. Each consecutive year that someone has their birthday, they grow another year older. Such is the standard for birth and aging still held to this day worldwide. Often, those celebrating their birthday will be given a birthday cake. This is a cake baked with the intent to celebrate the birthday, and is appropriately named as such.
Oftentimes, the cake will differ cosmetically from other cakes, with an obvious "birthday" theme. With many North American cultures, for example, the birthday cake will be a white confetti cake with ample piped cream, multicolored sprinkles, and "Happy Birthday!" strung across its top in icing, frosting, or fondant.
Accompanying the consumption of the birthday cake is the traditional song, "Happy Birthday to You", which is performed by birthday celebration participants prior to dining upon the delicious desert. "Happy Birthday to You" was originally composed as "Good Morning to All" in 1893 by Mildred and Patty Hill.
Item Usage[]
Unlike other Food, the Birthday Cake is animated in full 3D and drops down with a ceremonial "plop" onto the stage, candles lit and all. If a fighter eats the Birthday Cake, they will heal 30% damage while a quick jingle version of "Happy Birthday to You" plays. This party power-up also briefly bumps the fighter, giving them a 1.5x attack, defense, and speed boost. With each hit that they land on their foes while this buff is active, confetti will pop out along with a jovial "party popper" effect!
Occasionally, the birthday cake will turn out to be a prank cake! When the cake is rigged, it will explode in a burst of confetti and multicolored flames, dealing strong damage and knockback.
