A Canadian lumberjack and heavy-weight boxer, Bear Hugger is the Champion boxer of Canada and at different times was ranked the #2 boxer in both the Minor and Major Circuits of the WVBA. It seems that Bear Hugger’s name is no mere coincidence as he’s shown the strength capable of taming a bear to be his coach and boxing partner.

Bear Hugger is comparable to some of the slower Smash character when it comes to running around the stage which can make him easier to avoid. Bear Hugger can deliver the standard hard hitting punches from his massive fists, but his primary method of assistance is to try and grapple a character and squeeze them against himself in a great big ‘ol bear hug. Each squeeze does additional damage before Bear Hugger releases the fighter and throws them down onto the stage. It’s possible to escape from Bear Hugger’s grasp early if you can waggle the control stick enough.
