Character Info[]

With his bandana wrapped on tight, Dream Land's Player 4 means business! Originally appearing in the audience during Kirby Super Star's Megaton Punch, Bandana Dee carries a spear these days—and holds a key role in Team Kirby alongside Meta Knight, King Dedede, and the Pink Puff Ball himself. Bandana Dee even made the jump into the 3D plane alongside Kirby, saving other Waddle Dees after they are captured during the events of Forgotten Land.

General Information[]

Entrance[]

Bandana Dee will begin trapped inside one of the Waddle Dee Cages from Kirby and the Forgotten Land, before they swing their spear and break the cage open.

Kirby Hat[]

Kirby will wear Bandana Dee’s bandana on top of his head.

Taunts[]

Up Taunt: Bandana Dee will raise his spear up in the air and use it to wave “hi” at the camera.

Down Taunt: Bandana Dee will pull out a Kirby Burger he got from the Waddle Dee Cafe and begin to chow down as he devours the delicious burger in just two bites.

Side Taunt: Banana Dee will use the tip of his spear to scratch the side of his head.

Victory Poses[]

  1. A pair of stone slabs will be laying down on the ground. From above, Bandana Dee will fall straight down towards them with a fist extended. Bandana Dee will crash into the stone slabs with his fist and break them in half in a single punch, which also happens to crack the floor beneath the slabs.
  2. Bandana Dee will perform a solo version of his victory dance from Kirby and the Forgotten World. Bandana Dee will jump, whirl, and shimmy around celebrating his win.
  3. A team of three Waddle Dees will run towards Bandana Dee from all sides before picking him up and throwing him into the air three times. Hip Hip Hooray!

Moveset[]

Standard Special[]

Waddle Spear Throw: With a tap of the button Bandana Dee will take one of his trademark spears and lob it forwards in an arc. The spear will be initially tossed a degree upward and travel in an arc before it reaches its height and heads back down. This is relatively slow. If you tap the input repeatedly then Bandana Dee can throw up to three spears in total, one right after the other, which will all travel in the same arc and could hit the same opponent back to back. Alternatively, if you hold down the input then instead of throwing three spears in succession, you can have Bandana Dee throw three spears at the same time. When this occurs Bandana Dee will throw each of the three spears at a different angle which can allow you to hit a wider area of the stage in one go.

Side Special[]

Waddle Vault: Bandana Dee will take a step forward before planting the head of his spear into the ground and using it to vault himself forwards. As he does this he’ll pluck his spear back out of the ground mid-vault and hold it in front of him to attack with. The angle of Bandana Dee’s vault can be influenced by tilting the control stick which lets you either try to aim downwards and hit an opponent right in front of you or aim upwards to fly at a higher arc. Like with the Waddle Spear Throw, Bandana Dee will travel along an arc before he starts to fall back down. If Bandana Dee hits an opponent mid-vault he’ll jab at them with his spear to deal damage. Alternatively, if you press the special button mid-vault then Bandana Dee will toss his spear forwards, pretty much just like he would with Waddle Spear Throw. This lets Bandana Dee throw his spear for further range. If Bandana Dee tosses his spear and then also makes contact with an opponent with his body due to the vault, he will deal less damage to the opponent than if he kept his spear on him. Be careful when using this move near the end of a platform as you might end up vaulting over the side of the stage and to your own demise.

Up Special[]

Waddle Copter: Bandana Dee will rapidly twirl his spear above his head as it carries him high into the sky like a helicopter. Tilting the control stick will allow you to essentially fly Bandana Dee up through the air as he ascends to alter his flightpath. While this is occurring Bandana Dee’s spear is still a hitbox that deals rapid hits of weak damage to fighters that make contact with it. It’s weak in both damage and knockback, but it can hit opponent’s multiple times. This is especially effective if you use this special move while you are immediately below an opponent as they’ll be practically trapped by the attack for a few hits before eventually getting knocked away to relative safety.

Down Special[]

Waddle Beam: Bandana Dee takes a page out of Waddle Doo’s playbook as his spear changes into a Beam Rod! Like with the Beam ability, there are three separate levels of charge. When using this move uncharged, Bandana Dee will unleash the iconic, original Beam Whip! This attack will have Bandana Dee swing the Beam Rod downwards in front of him as it creates a slow moving whip of energy that dishes out electric damage to anyone that touches it. At half charge the move is similar, but is now a cycle beam that is unleashed in a molecular spread from the Beam Rod. This attack is about as far-reaching as the Beam Whip, but is now in an octopi-like “net” pattern and deals out a similar amount of damage just at a higher velocity. If you can fully charge up this attack then instead of leashing a whip attack, Bandana Dee will instead create an orb of electric energy which travels forwards at high speed. This electric orb is comparable in power to Samus’ Charge Beam as it inflicts a similar amount of damage and knockback.

Final Smash[]

Super Megaton Punch Ultra: With a fire in his eyes, Bandana Dee will hurl himself forwards as he tries to tackle a foe in front of him. Failure will mean Bandana Dee will face plant onto the ground and skid forward just a tad. However if Bandana Dee is successful then he will slam into the opponent and perform a series of wrestling moves on them. Bandana Dee will mix up these strikes with whatever moves his little body can handle such as punches, kicks, elbow jabs, and even headbutts. As this is occurring a series of meters will begin to fill underneath Bandana Dee showcasing how much power he is amassing. First one meter will fill, then a second, and finally a third. Bandana Dee will jump back a short distance with a shining gleam in his eyes as his opponent stands dazed before leaping high into the air above his foe. Once positioned, Bandana Dee will reorient himself so that his fist is pointing straight down before falling onto his opponent with the force of a mighty meteor as he unleashes his signature Megaton Punch! Foes who are hit dead-on by this punch will take an incredibly high amount of damage and knockback. Additionally, a wave of red energy will emerge from the blast size and travel in both directions away from the fighter as far as Battlefield. The waves are taller the closer to the blast site they are and begin to shrink and peter out the further they get. Additionally, the amount of damage and knockback dealt by the waves is more severe the closer to the blast zone you are hit by them. These waves measure in height from about as tall as Giant Donkey Kong to as small as Olimar.

Extra Skill[]

Star Allies: By holding down the Extra Skill input five symbols will appear around Bandana Dee, not unlike Shulk and his Monado Arts. These symbols represent the five elements as seen in Kirby Star Allies; Blizzard, Bluster, Sizzling, Splash, and Zap. By tilting the control stick towards a symbol one of the Star Allies will appear over Bandana Dee’s shoulder and breathe out their element onto his spear. For the next 9 seconds Bandana Dee’s Waddle Spear Throw special will receive a boon associated with that element. Each element has a cooldown after it’s been used of 5 seconds. Alternatively, if you don’t want to hold the input down then you can rapidly tap the input until you get the element you want. The order of the elements and their details are below:

  • Blizzard - A Chilly will appear next to Bandana Dee and grant his spear the power of ice! While Bandana Dee’s spear is covered in frost, his Waddle Spear Throw will deal ice damage and have a small chance to freeze opponents who are hit by the spears.
  • Bluster - A Birdon will appear next to Bandana Dee and grant his spear the power of wind! While Bandana Dee’s spear is surrounded by wind gusts, his Waddle Spear Throw will deal wind damage and come with a small windbox on impact which will blow fighters and items away from it.
  • Sizzling - A Burning Leo will appear next to Bandana Dee and grant his spear the power of fire! While Bandana Dee’s spear is surrounded by flames, his Waddle Spear Throw will deal fire damage and explode into a very small aoe of flames on impact.
  • Splash - A Driblee will appear next to Bandana Dee and grant his spear the power of water! While Bandana Dee’s spear is surrounded by bubbles, his Waddle Spear Throw will deal water damage and leave tiny puddles on the ground on impact. These puddles have a chance to trip opponents that run through them.
  • Zap - A Plugg will appear next to Bandana Dee and grant his spear the power of lightning! While Bandana Dee’s spear is surrounded by electricity, his Waddle Spear Throw will deal electric damage and will pierce through opponents and minor obstacles. This allows the spears to hit multiple targets at once. Is Mario standing behind Sly Cooper? Well then after Sly Cooper is hit by the spear Mario will be hit next!

Unique Traits:[]

Following in the footsteps of Kirby, Meta Knight, and King Dedede, Bandana Dee is capable of performing multiple jumps when he’s already in the air! Unlike his predecessors however, Bandana Dee is only capable of doing this three times before he has to land.

In a very Peach-like manner, Bandana Dee can also pull out a parasol and float around in the air as a way to slow his descent.
