Balthier is a sky pirate and gunner who travels the world of Ivalice alongside his partner Fran. After a heist gone wrong at the Royal Palace in Rabanastre, Balthier and Fran came upon Vaan who had managed to snag the very treasure they were looking for, the Goddess’s Magicite. Balthier attempted to take the treasure, but after Vaan managed to escape Balthier was forced to follow. When Vaan got himself stuck in the middle of a conflict between imperial forces and the resistance, Balthier decided to lend the kid a hand and get him out of the situation. In time however, that act would cause Balthier to get much more involved with the resistance than he wanted to be.
Mode of Assistance[]
Balthier will start things out by drawing his gun, the Altair, and using it to fire two shotgun-like spreads of bullets in a wide arc in front of him with a brief second pause in between the two shots. The bullets fired out are all individually weak and spread out the further they travel, but if an opponent is hit at close range they’ll take the full damage and knockback. Once these two shots are done, Balthier will holster his gun and concentrate as six motes of flame swirl up around him. Balthier will shout, “My regards!” as he throws forward one arm causing the six flames to fly forwards a short distance before hard arcing down to the ground. These flames will damage and pass through any fighter they come into contact with and when they hit the ground together they will erupt into a large tower of swirling flames that deal heavy damage to fighters that are caught in them for a couple seconds before exploding out and fading away.
