Stage Info[]

With most of the Altean army battling with King Cornelius in Dolhr, the country's defenses were left to a Gra garrison. Midway through battle, the island nation betrays Altea. Their king, Jiol, murders Cornelius and lays siege to Altea, forcing Marth into exile. Guided by Malledus, Marth deftly evaded Gra's forces to escape by ship to Talys. Altean Exile captures this pivotal moment in Marth's history, on the tense path that led him to become the Hero King of Legend.

Stage Layout[]

Altean Exile features Marth's retainers and the forces of Talys fighting off the impending Gra army. Characters fight upon the robust unmarked ship that the Alteans take to Talys. It's a large boat, roughly twice the size of Pirate Ship, with a mast jutting out from its center. Two platforms—one about Battlefield-sized, with the one below slightly larger—make up space for fighters to duke it out. There is a spacious main floor, as well as additional, higher platforms on the stern and bow. The bow leads off to a lengthy bowsprit. The stern features a smaller jut for players to potentially play games of keep-away from one another on, located just a jump over the railing.

A number of Marth's cohorts can be seen in the background, either watching the ongoing fight or fighting themselves against Gra. These cameos include Malledus, Frey, Cain, Abel, Gordin, and Draug. The stage is fittingly dark and stormy for such a harrowing moment. As Gra's forces begin to part away, so do the skies, and Marth's party will begin to cheer as clouds pave the way for the sun and Talys can be seen nearby. The ship keeps on moving, though, and the cycle repeats.

Although the stage is sea-based, the focus is honed-in almost solely on the ship. Small walk-offs are viable on either side of the ship that will see fighters almost instantly drop to their demise — we’re talking torrential waters!

Stage Hazards[]

Wyvern Rider:[]

Every so often, a Gra Wyvern Rider will fly down from the ongoing midair skirmish and attack the stage. They will be wielding either a lance or an axe, and their primary form of attack will be swooping in towards their foes, lunging or swinging at them with their weapons. They can dish out a fair amount of damage, but can be sent flying with a couple of well-met Smash attacks. They might also be seen in the stage's background fighting Marth's retainers.

Ballistae:[]

Ballista bolts will be shot onto the stage from imposing Gra ships, procuring heavy piercing and shield-breaking damage should they hit a fighter. The spot that they are about to hit will be highlighted by a warm, circular yellow light several seconds before hitting the stage, offering ample time to avoid them.
