Stage Info[]

25m is the first 25 meters of the construction site where Mario and Donkey Kong (Cranky Kong) first faced off. Mario had to jump and climb his way up ladders and steel girders and avoid barrels and living Fireballs as he made his way to the kidnapped Pauline, or “Lady” as she was called back in the day. Unfortunately for Mario, just like Princess Peach who would always be in “another castle”, Donkey Kong would take Pauline with him higher up the construction site before Mario could actually rescue her.

Stage Layout[]

The layout for this stage matches the original level design from the original Donkey Kong game. Unlike 75m which is a midair stage, 25m is a grounded stage with several of its platforms having walkoffs to the side. All of the platforms on this stage, except for the one at the very bottom, are considered soft and can be passed through by fighters and attacks. The unbroken ladders can even be used to climb up from one level to another instead of jumping if you so wish.

Hazards[]

Donkey Kong[]

Unlike the Donkey Kong hazard on 75m, this Donkey Kong doesn’t rage out and swing its fists trying to hit fighters who get near him. Instead, when this hazardous DK becomes active, he’ll grab a barrel from his left and roll it towards the right. Making contact with Donkey Kong when he is in this state will deal minor damage to fighters.

Lady[]

Like Donkey Kong, Lady has both an active and inactive state. When inactive she is just there in the background with a faded look to her. But when Lady becomes active she’ll seem to step out onto the stage and will start screaming for help! When Lady is calling for help, she’ll reward the first fighter who comes to her rescue and makes contact with her with some level of boon. These boons can range from getting an increase to your attack power, healing the fighter of about 20% damage, or giving the fighter the Gold status effect.

Barrels[]

Barrels come in two varieties. The more common of which is an orange wooden barrel. These barrels are rolled out by Donkey Kong and will roll down the platforms until they either hit something and break apart or just roll off the screen. Sometimes barrels might decide to throw players for a loop and roll down a ladder instead of continuing down the platform. These barrels don’t do a lot of damage and knockback, but they can certainly be annoying to deal with. Rarely, Donkey Kong will roll a blue oil drum. These oil drums deal more damage on contact and if they happen to roll all the way down the stage and make contact with the oil drum at the bottom, something will happen. Barrels can also be attacked and knocked around the stage which can surprise fighters. Regular barrels take less damage to destroy and are lighter. The blue oil drums naturally take more damage to destroy and are harder to send flying through the air.

Fireball[]

If one of the blue barrels makes contact with the oil drum at the bottom it will spark as fire spits out from the top of it before that fire leaps out of the oil drum and lands in front of it. This Fireball becomes a new hazard on the stage and can travel along the platforms and ladders trying to hit an opponent. Fireballs will dissipate on contact with an opponent causing fire damage to them.
